The frontline is actually really wide, having 3 to 1 odds will help in more ways than one, You are overthinking factors that are useless in mass mobilization considerations. They have 200 now, another 300 is there now or very soon, 400 are being taken in through their normal draft, numbers will add rapidly.
Russia is dead serious, I find it weird how detached some of you are, comparing this to Trump, when statistically you probably voted for the fucker, and what consequenses did that have for you? Roe vs Wade hurts women and your not it.
In Europe however I got 1000 dollar a month power bills now, food prices are soaring, and winter is here and shit Will hit the fan and Russia will hurt us bad again soon.
For the the Us, you can fight the cheapest proxy war since fucking forever, and being net oil and food exporter you will do just fine.

This is a really weird take. My impression of this forum is that it is pretty liberal, and even if not, given that Biden got more votes, “statistically”, people here are more likely to have voted for Biden, all else being equal.
See, this is where you lose people with unnecessary comments like this.

Ukraine is losing people, I’m just stepping on some feelings, I’ll be fine.
I must admit I have trouble reading all on my small phone, so if someone said the Crimea bridge stuff, then I agree with them, and writing on the phone is hard too, autocorrect takes me all over the place.
That said, I read the long twitter thread about Russian mobilization voes, I do agree, they are having a tough time, but I am 100% confident they’ll sort their shit out in that respect, and yes, it will be one guy and his AK47…but that’s what most on the frontline have anyway.
However remember, some of these people having been saying since May that Russia was running out of missiles…how are them apples?

I’ve been having trouble following you as I’ve mentioned but you’ve compleyely lost me here. I think you would have trouble finding an active P&R poster that voted for Trump. Do you mean that statistically 46% of American voters voted for Trump? The posters here that you’re conversing with are in no way split along those same lines. I’m not sure who the “you” is that you’re directing that at. If it’s P&R posters I think it’s misplaced.

That is genuinely awful and you have my sympathies. No one asked for this war aside from Putin and I think we all wish it had never happened.
How many times does someone have to post this reply? A company or battalion of soldiers with assault rifles and nothing else is not a useful combat unit. They will die like flies without achieving anything (this in fact is already happening)

They still are? They’ve used something like 2/3 of their missile stocks and are trying to get new ballistic missiles from Iran because they are running out. They’ve seemingly decided the best use of their remaining missile stock is to perform terror strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Even that is turning to sporadic barrages with long quiet periods rather than constant strikes like we saw earlier in the war. That’s not to take away from the horror real Ukrainians are living through, but Russia clearly has diminished capabilities due to dwindling stocks.
I still don’t really understand what you think people here are saying/thinking or what attitude we have that causes some of the insults you randomly throw out at nobody in particular. Honestly, really curious for you to go into some detail on that because I don’t see a huge difference between your position vs most other people here outside of our conclusions about Russian capabilities. But we are all on the same side and hoping desperately for an end to this war that’s both soon and favorable to Ukraine.

Please find better terminology to describe this war. Just because the West is supporting Ukraine while not actively participating, we did not instigate or want this war in any way. That’s all on Putin who is fighting this war directly(8 years after his proxy war in eastern Ukraine).

I tried to use different terminology, but apparently its the only one that fits, I don’t think it means its a bad thing tbh…tons of proxy wars in the cold war just like this one.
This guy has something to say about the mobilization…
In it he mentions that we are looking at a general mobilisation, NOT a partial…that means they are getting people in THEIR MILLIONS…
I think what some struggle with here, is the fact that Putins Russia does not give a flying fuck if tons of AK47 guys die like flies on the front as long as they WIN…
I think they are that callous.

Janster:
You’ll see
I don’t think we will see. They will not mobilize a million men for combat unless things change drastically.

The bottleneck for Russia is not manpower, but equipment and logistical support. They do not have the supply network necessary to keep their troops properly supplied, and they do not have the stocks of equipment, vehicles, and weaponry to give to these new troops that are necessary to launch offensives break through Ukrainian defenses.
Plus - you know - they need to be trained, etc.
That is why they are focused on attacking civilians to force Ukraine to the negotiating table, and that is why they continue to retreat to reduce their exposure to Ukrainian assaults and strengthen their defensive position.
I think if a dictator mobilises and arms a million men who aren’t keen on leaving the country and dying for nothing, he might just get a very surprisingly different outcome.

Troll: “You probably voted for Trump.”
You’re repeatedly missing the point. It’s not about whether Putin gives a fuck. It’s about this categorically not being a path towards winning. A million men with rifles and nothing else is not actually an army.

Yeah, what Janster doesn’t seem to grasp is that Russia is literally incapable of pulling this off.

Is there any chance we send Ukraine ATACMS in the next package? Or is this an issue where we don’t have enough of those missiles for ourselves?
That, and I think the US still has veto against Ukr using really long range munitions to attack into Russia proper.
Or, you know, they could use a fleet of giant levitating aerial dreadnoughts. That might do it, too, so maybe they will have that instead.

What are you doing in this passage? It reads like…motivation for your views? Is that what you mean? I honestly can’t understand the point of it otherwise.

I guess I have to make it simpler, you have no skin in the game son.
@Timex Why do you quote some twitter guy and assume thats the final say on Russian mobilisation…
They are able to mobilize 400k new recruits every year…sure it’s a shit show, but doubling that number won’t be that hard if you assume low standards and ak 4 all.
And no, having 300k guys with AK isn’t great, but it is actually far better than nothing, and can be VERY dangerous, particularly because of the really really long frontage Ukraine has.
Thought this was obvious by now.
I ain’t your son, boy, and you’re just confirming the inference. ‘Skin in the game’ isn’t a factor in analyzing the progress of a war or its outcome, it’s a motivation for favoring a particular outcome, or a particular timing for an outcome.
This is a very questionable part. Also in a peaceful year, they only mobilize 250k people. Naturally, those people are not equipped for combat at all and don’t use up as many supplies and equipment as people on the frontline. Also in a peaceful year, a person you mobilize doesn’t expect to die and is not as incentivized to evade the mobilization. A lot of people who know they’re going to be drafted fled Russia or sponsored local draft officers fund.
