The US produced 2/3rds of all the weapons, equipment and munitions used by all the Allies in WW2. Soviet Russia couldn’t supply those men.
Belarusian official media reports that Makei, Belarusian minister of foreign affair has “suddenly died”. No details for now but he was a relatively young guy. Seems Russian epidemic of defenestration and car accidents is contagious.
Just few hours later people started spreading the rumour that Kremlin wants to phisically remove Lukashenko and take direct control over Belarus. It’s mad, but concirvable: a little victory for the glorious leader. If Ukraine is not a real country than Belarus is like something from Lord of the Rings apocryphas.
When they fill out the death certificates, I wonder if there is just a box they can check to indicate manner of death that says ‘sudden’.
Well maybe it’s an issue of translation. Russian “скоропостижно скончался” is poetic, you say that about a general shot in a battle. You don’t say about a frail or sick person. But a direct translation is “his life ended in a sudden way”, I guess.

Ack, I hope there isn’t any truth to the rumor. I want to read your future posts about a free and independent Belarus, not see it annexed by Russia.

Not to mention all the spam.
Assistant Professors at traditional schools have around seven years to get promoted to Associate, or they are out. That usually means publishing a book or several significant articles. A lot of what this guy is doing is no doubt related to the fact that he’s about at the point where it’s fish or cut bait.
My late father in law was part of that; he was stationed in Isfahan in Iran on the land route for lend lease stuff to Russia. He kind of lucked out, because folks liked him; he was a cook, and the most serious dangers they ran into were training accidents (lethal) and STDs (usually not). His brother though was not so blessed, as he landed on the beaches on D-Day as an infantryman. Survived the war though.
Protests in Kazakhstan after the latest elections. Last time Russia helped with calming down people, but since then Tokaev has distanced himself from Russia. It’s not clear how serious the unrest is for now, but the government is chaffing the communications.

How many rounds have the Russian artillery been firing per day now? Any takers?
I think the topic will have to rest for my part now, time will show I guess.
Didn’t the RT channel have a talkshow where they said Kazakhstan is next…and here I thought Poland was…shame
Kazakhstan’s government was basically saved by Russia in January. But then Tokaev, the leader of Kazakhstan, did everything he could to get independent of Russia. Even before that they did a lot of stuff on Russian population privileges and Russia didn’t care.
Poland is like Rusophovix nation by default, Kazakhstan is more of a stab in the back thing. Very hard to imagine Russia doing any real military action there cause just look at the map.
Besides, Borat would eff Putin up.
Borat number one soldier.

Perhaps a better way to have put it was if someone is engaging in a debate where they would appear not to be acting in good faith it might be time to question the need to respond.

I’ve thought about it but then I convince myself that maybe he actually wants to have a discussion about this stuff. But yeah, that’s not happening.
