The financing arrangements were restructured so Hungary no longer has a veto, by having loans be guaranteed by individual member governments rather than the EU itself.

Yeah… Thats been a fact for a loooong time now. Sadly, I’m not surprised at all that they might be supplying the Russians.

This is just one example of why “one million men” is impossible - Russian army food logistics - or lack thereof:

The unwilling and competent got out.
What they have left are the dregs. I think they’re trying to train the best of that bunch of be somewhat useful, the rest are cannon fodder.
Honestly, if you need more than one tourniquet, you’re probably not going to live long enough to use the second one.
Oh, one tourniquet for the whole unit? Well, they’ll just need to share, right? What are the chances that more than one guy will be that critically injured at one time?
Really? That high? Huh.
I just bought an Israeli Bandage to put into my first-aid kit. I’m just as equipped as the 247th Airborne Assault Regiment!

Why do they need tourniquets? They can cut up their extra uniform… shirts… uh…
I’m sure there must be some equilibrium point between t’he rate of casualties suffered in Bakhmut and the conscription rate whereby food logistics won’t be important.

Good point. Sort of like Russian T-34 drive trains in WW2 supposedly having sort lives because it was assumed the average tank wouldn’t survive long enough.
I have a modest proposal for you.

Yay, it’s Project 100,000: The Sequel.
This video might be old, it aired on Russian TV in 2015, but I still think it’s useful material for the real power Russia has and holds for now cause Ukraine is not a worthy target.

Really? You do realize that quite a lot of EU countries are Eastern European? And that international policy is not determined based on one-liners?
The reality is that membership to both EU and NATO have certain preconditions and terms, and Ukraine did not in 2022 fulfill either of those terms and wasn’t likely to for many, many years. It was, however, working on a path toward membership (in both), with 2024 supposedly being the planned date for trying for EU candidate status with actual membership happening at earliest in the 2030s. As Romania demonstrates, such a journey is fraught with difficulties and these discussions (wrt Ukraine) have been ongoing for more than a decade at this point. A 2024 candidacy date for EU was at best optimistic. NATO was never a realistic possibility.
The idea that “Putin doesn’t know this” is absurd. I guarantee that he knows every particular of this way better than you or any political analyst you care to name.
There is never a reason to dip into the unfiltered garbage hose of any commentary section. Ever.
Regarding the quality of the Wagner mercs, I was seeing reports this weekend that Prighozin has been recruiting prisoners in the C.A.R. since october (typically former rebels and insurgents from the civil wars). Which suggests that they are generally still looking to recruit people with existing combat training, rather than just raw recruits. And that probably makes them significantly better than the run-of-the-mill Russian conscripts, even if not necessarily more effective.

This is good. It is my understanding that the Netherlands was a potentially large loophole for advanced chips, and now it will be closed:

So if cluster bombs are illegal why wouldn’t that be? It looks lethal AF, any troops that survive take a morale check with hefty malus.
Cluster bombs are illegal because the submitions don’t always explode when they’re supposed to and then after the war some little kid picks one up and blows up.
That HIMARs video is basically a giant claymore. One big explosion hurling tungsten balls that shred everything around them. But once they’re at rest, they won’t explode if you pick them up.
