More “lovely” stuff happening

It’s gross, but there’s a huge swath of the Right who looks at Russia and Putin longingly.
Are you tired of seeing black athletes who don’t know their place? Throw em in jail!
Are you tired of blue-haired hippie girls telling white male politicians what to do? Throw em in jail!
Did that commercial where the kid has two dads make you feel weird? Make being gay illegal!
Are you generally tired of Democrats? Throw em in jail or kill em!
“Air raid sirens go off in Kyiv as Russian incursions as part of this invasion continue across the border. Airstrikes are being reported in most major population centers as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that’ll be a home run. And so that’ll make it a 4-0 ballgame.”
All of that is undoubtedly true…
We have got a couple of lovely shiny new aircraft carriers…
But I didn’t think we were discussing capabilities, we were discussing financial commitments…
Largely because of the massive cost overruns on the F35 and the delays in actually getting it to work in service…

I thought at least one of the shoulder-fired anti-tank missile systems the west has been providing to Ukriane recently had an alternate mode for targeting helicopters?

Which for those who are too lazy to look up is northwest of Kharkiv and ~20 miles from the Russian border.
Russia has been politicized in the US, and there’s a good chance anything Putin does is going to be viewed through the “Trump” filter.
It is what it is, much like Europe should have dealt with our energy dependance on Russia, it wasn’t fixed on time.
Why would it be obvious? Russia has leaned heavily on boots on the ground in Donetsk and Lugansk. Russia could attack from the sea to get a land corridor from Lugansk to Crimea. Russia could artillery barrage border towns. A week ago even those who said that the invasion is imminent mostly imagined Russian tanks moving borders of rebel-controlled regions, not airstrikes on Kiev.
Everything is politicized in US. From the outside those talks about how the Ukrainian tragedy should affect American policy on China look bizarre.

The German army, which arguably should be the best in Europe (and probably was during the Cold War) is just terrible:
German military problems
Maybe this will wake them up.
Best in Europe?
Hold on there now, don’t be doing anything hasty.
This is a joke, at least while AfD remains outside of power.

They never had launch control of those nukes.
(Iron Dome is a joint US-Israeli project, either nation can block sales.)
Russian troops have captured Chernobyl Nuclear Station. They bombarded it so the nuclear waste dome might be damaged.
Not bad, not terrible. :/
