Ukrania has a lot of troops on the ground, but the fighting is actually very low intensity and there are Russian recon tanks and vehicles running all over Kiev, this is not indicative of there being much if any opposition in the region.
Most likely their army is stuck against the rebel regions and is out of action for the remained of the war. Whats left is just hastily armed civillians …I had hoped to better but alas…please let me be wrong this time.

I posted a bit about this last night, but I really hope even if Zelensky is intent on staying in Kiev and martyring himself that enough of the legitimate government gets elsewhere and keeps representing a democratic Ukraine to fight for. It sure seems like enough of the country is bought in on defending their country so I just don’t see how Russia getting Kiev and announcing a puppet leader ends things. It doesn’t even have to transition to insurgency at that point, there is still a vast majority of the country seemingly under Ukrainian control.

Again, where are you getting this from? I think it’s easy for relatively little frontline footage coming from Western media sources to deceive you into thinking there just isn’t anyone fighting back. And while I don’t trust numbers the Ukrainians are releasing, the relative lack of penetration by Russian forces 48 hours in seems to indicate something is making things difficult for them.

Russians only managed to capture one town as for now, after 2 days of attacking the country on all fronts.

I can’t post direct links, but I watch the media, I see Russian tanks galevanting around in Kiev, i see armor rapidly running through cities, which means there is -nothing- there…
I’ll be up all night gathering this intel, but so far I think the action is very light, and they have probably bypassed most of the Ukraine armys poor positioning.
Don’t be mean, I love for me to be wrong.
Edit : Liveuamap is showing what it thinks is how far they have gotten, but we still see images of russians in Kiev…and other places… so I don’t know.

With the fog of war who knows…
I mean, honestly I expected Kyiv to have already been taken. Ukraine’s military response has surpassed my expectations. We have to consider they basically have zero air cover aside from some SAMs and they’re going against one of the most powerful armies in the world. They’re going to give ground because they don’t want to lose troops where it won’t serve any tactical purpose; I don’t pretend to have any great military mind, but flinging troops against tanks seems like it will just build up a body count of your own men. Eastern Ukraine is largely farm land, and whole that’s valuable to a nation, it’s almost meaningless to an army engaged in fighting.
