CNN has good correspondents but I wish they wouldn’t use all of their normal studio hosts for coverage like this. Don Lemon shouldn’t be hosting war coverage, get somebody who has someone who actually understands this stuff.

It’s obvious Russia’s plan is to take the capitol assuming that will force capitulation. I wonder if they thought about how well that strategy worked for Napoleon. Even if Kyiv falls and the leadership is killed or captured it’s questionable whether resistance would collapse.

I agree, highly questionable. But I’ll say again that I think it would be a disaster for the whole government to go down fighting for Kiev. Make sure you have a designated survivor somewhere much safer to keep a legitimate government in place and in opposition to the puppet Putin will try to install.
I’m wondering if Russia snuck a bunch of Spetnzatz into the heart of the city, because while the armored push sounds like it was repulsed, there’s been audible gunfire going on for a while near the government center.

You can also bet that boy is going to grow up hating Russians. Which kind of emphasizes that if Putin’s objective was to keep Ukraine in Russia’s orbit, this may backfire spectacularly.
How are the russians being so bad at this? Why would you fly two aircrafts with so many personnel into an area that hasn’t been secured?
Like, yes, Russia will still probably “win” this but they are doing terribly for a country that’s supposed to be a large military superpower.

You know I can understand not kicking Russia off SWIFT because of the need to pay for necessities. But Europe is STILL selling diamonds and handbags to Russian elites who are in Putin’s grace? This is a new level of IDGAF. Maybe next Europe should ask Melania where she bought THAT Zara jacket?

There are reports of heavy fighting in the area so I can’t tell if there was an actual combat jump attempted or not. There were also reports of an attempt to hit the airfield on the ground with some spetsnaz or something dressed up in Ukrainian police uniforms, and maybe these 2 planes thought they were going in to land Entebbe style.
