Erdogan has really been stepping up during this crisis though. That’s a minor positive development.
I haven’t seen any clear confirmation of it. I’ve seen the Jerusalem Post reporting it but the only sourcing is that tweet, and I’ve seen an Istanbul bureau chief saying that his sources say that Turkey hasn’t made this decision.

It’s often easy to find Russian troops because they leave their phones on as they march. COnscript army of very low quality.
The strategy right now is grim- make Mother russia bleed, hopefully enough that Putin loses his political capital in Russia, and stick the heaviest sanctions you can on them as long as possible in response to this.
Basically make it where Putin has to spend all his time avoiding revolution at home. Basically do to him what he did to us with the Republican party.

I’d be extremely surprised if this happens, as it would be an escalation that -in the way it impacts Russia, at least symbolically- would be hauntingly reminiscent of historical events in WWI. Putin knows how his romanticized Russian Empire collapsed and wouldn’t let this happen, whatever the cost. AFAIK Turkey can stop ships that aren’t part of the Black Sea fleet according to Montreux Convention, but even that would be seen as a very aggresive step by Russia, probably much more so than the sanctions.
