If it is only selected banks, can’t they just work through the banks that weren’t selected?
It might be, I don’t really care. I was commenting on the notion that Kyiv is close to Russia when the attack coming through is Russian military attacking the city through Belarus.

I’m just thinking of small things that Ukraine could have that would work, I would assume a Hellfire and the platform to deliver it are probably not in the Ukraine arsenal, but a guided artillery piece seems more possible and I would assume a lot cheaper shot-for-shot. I don’t have a whole lot of hope if Russia has finally committed for the big atrocity attack, those NLAWs out of building windows are going to do some work, hopefully.
Maybe, but I’m guessing ‘selected’ means ‘the ones that matter’. I think they probably know which ones those are.

It’s so weird seeing a European war unfold like this. And while I’m really happy Ukraine is getting so much support and hanging tough, I’m worried this is going to get so much worse before it gets better. How does Putin back down from something like this:
Vietnam with white people. I don’t have a good feeling about where this is going.

The Dragon was basically 70s technology.
The Javelin is a much more modern ATGM.
He doesn’t while still expecting to survive passing by second-story windows.
I do worry that if the Ukrainians are “too good” at stopping the Russians, and it starts looking like a serious quagmire, that Putin is gonna resort to some seriously heavy stuff.
I don’t think he’s gonna say “Oh well, I tried”.
Not talking about nuclear, but people have mentioned thermobaric weapons. You don’t even need those to level a city, but that could happen.

Right, I had “wire guided” in my old head and thought of the Dragon, but same issue with the TOW, that shooting back is rough. I’m a bit surprised nobody cooked up an RPG improvement that could still hurt modern tanks, the ability to fight from an urban area would be a nightmare for armor.

Yes, I got that, it was more the sobering through of how close Warsaw is to the border.

I tend to think he’s already there, as bad as it is to say, this fighting is going to hurt Russia about 1/100th as bad as the sanctions, so if he’s got a personal doomsday trigger it’s going to be tested.
All of that is incredibly difficult when you don’t control the airspace. FIBUA is a fantastic leveller in that respect…

I still don’t really understand what the airspace war looks like, seems like Ukraine is keeping it at least dangerous for Russia to overfly with impunity.
Current meme I figure people may enjoy:
Yeah, that’s absolutely the other side of the coin – that while this spirited defense of their country is inspiring as hell, the chances it leads to more severe consequences for the civilian population of Ukraine grows by the hour.
Warsaw is farther from Belarus than Kiev. It’s also in the middle of the country.
Unrelated to anything important at all, but I keep thinking @alekseivolchok’s avatar is John Ashton. (It isn’t, it’s Churchill.)
Strongly considering changing my avi to John Ashton, though.
I’m sorry I’ve awoken such deviant urges in you.
What’s worse, is most of the combat vehicles will look the same, since a lot of Ukraine’s military uses Soviet-era equipment. I know we spent a lot of time on vehicle recognition training, and I imagine the Russians don’t, and they’re not going to be able to easily tell their vehicles from the Ukraine vehicles.
