Is Belarus getting hit with sanctions too? I feel like they are skating on this catastrophe right now.

I think they are the poorest country in Europe, not much to sanction there.

The US (or NATO) established air supremacy in the Middle East and the Balkans before trying to enforce a no-fly zone. Without that, you can’t actually enforce a no-fly zone; you’re just in an endless series of dogfights, if you’re not actually being shot down by ground-based air defense systems.

I understand the frustration and feel it too, but I just don’t agree that the best course of action right now is make war on Russia, and that is what is being suggested. Sanction the hell out of the bastards and arm the Ukrainians to the teeth. Bring Finland and Sweden and Denmark into NATO if they will come, and strengthen NATO forces in every country in the region. Wean our economies off of anything Russia has to offer and impoverish the place.

These people should all have anti-tank weapons damnit.

Is it possible to like this guy more?

Oh, I like this.

I don’t like trying to turn this into another partisan political thing in the US. Call out the specific people like Trump and Tucker pushing Russian propaganda but understand that the majority of the right is on the correct side of this.

I don’t actually think this is true, but I won’t argue it further here.

Sorry a bit of tangent, wtf happened to Tulsi Gabbard? From budding Democratic politician to Putin apologist? It’s like one day she is a Democrat and the next she keeps getting invited on Fox News.

The zone is like 6 miles down the road from the border with Russian puppet Belarus, where a bunch of the invading troops entered Ukraine. So it’s not really weird (and it’s not like they were fighting over the containment structure; presumably they were fighting over the road, which ultimately heads towards Kyiv.)

Can’t find any major outlet confirmation but did find this:

This was a fantastic read about wargames run last year that showed exactly the logistics scenarios that we see now. My take away is that Russia’s logistics setup is based on trains (in no small reason because of how large Russia is), transferring cargo meant for rails into cargo meant for trucks requires significant prep and safety, and they don’t have the truck capacity to perform truck based deliveries long distance consistently.

This is what she always was. She only gained popularity because she was anti-war. Anti-US-war that is, everyone else was free to do whatever they wanted. Russia wants to barrel bomb doctors? That’s fine as long as the US doesn’t do or say anything.

She’s been a Putin apologist since day one as far as I’m aware.

I’m not too far off of this.

I don’t have numbers, but I’ve seen lots of Republican congressmen on CNN, on Twitter, on news sites over the last few days all clearly very anti-Russian. I can’t recall seeing any anywhere releasing messages in support of Russia. Even Trump and Tucker seem to have softened their positions from what I’ve seen which tells me their audience isn’t as in to Putin as they are.

Maybe there are more out there, but it’s not what I’ve seen. I don’t want to continue this conversation any further either, it’s just been notable to me over the last few days of watching constant coverage how consistent voices have been in support of Ukraine.

This is my recollection as well. I remember some interviews with her when she was running for president that were really bad.

This stood out from the article when discussing the difference in Russian rail gauges.

“Poland only has one wide gauge rail line which runs from the Krakow region to Ukraine and can’t be used by Russian forces, without capturing Ukraine first.”

SNL Tonight;

It’s the morning of the fourth day. Kyiv has not fallen. The airspace remains contested. Zelensky lives. In 24 hours russian financial markets are scheduled to open under the new sanctions regime. There are more anti-tank munitions pledged to be delivered to Ukrainian forces in the coming days than Russia has main battle tanks and hundreds of stingers too.
