Bank runs starting in Russia:

Some days you just can’t get rid of a mine.

It’s the ciggie in his mouth, as if it’s more important to smoke than put it down, and the python walk that get me. Amazing. Good lord man, it’s explosive!

I would fucking love to see a Death of Putin scenario. Full Ianucci. Lavrov going beastmode, jumping on the table, Medvedev coming in with an assault rifle in each hand. What’s up motherfuckers?!

And like, where’s he taking it?

You know, I bet you could weaponize a Roobma with one of those things.

Al Jazeera is reporting that Belarusian President Lukashenko has assured Zelenskyy that no Belarusian forces will enter Ukraine. Not sure if I’d seen that before.

I expect him to take the same way out that hitler did, once the walls have completely closed in. Which they very much appear to be doing. Either that or he has to run away with his tail between his legs and that is not likely to be compatible with remaining in power. Cornered dog and all that. Hope somebody else also has to turn a key to let the nukes fly.

More footage of civilians forming roadblocks.

The woman screaming obscenities at them in the background really makes it. I can’t make out all of what she said but there were at least a few go fuck yourselves (“get on a dick” I think the more literal translation).

A little more humor for the morning

Meanwhile, another assault coming for Mariupol, confirmed by US

EU announcing right now that the EU will finance weapons and medical supplies for Ukraine. Also announcing sanctions for Belarus and the banning of Russia Today, RT and Sputnik media outlets.

That reminds me, I wonder what the reporting is on RT.com.

Been going several minutes now, which is far worse then yesterday when I could get a page eventually.

Checking on other Russian news outlets, TASS and sputnik are still up, OANN remains down.

After about 10 minutes did finally RT come up. Images took another couple of minutes.

Someone should start a donation campaign for Ukraine among the gaming community using the tagline “A settlement needs your help”.

A Russian official (who sadly likely has no real power or significant following) apologizes for the invasion on behalf of his nation and says there’s no justification for it

Zelenskyy setting low expectations for any negotiation outcome.

It’s a nice educational experience hearing all the accents of various slavic people as they say the same words.

(Go fuck yourself in Russian and similar languages roughly transliterated sounds like “na houy”)

Once I berated an Ukranian friend for smoking at the gas pump. He said in the old country they put out their cigarettes in gasoline.

This is BS.

Yes, Putin can absolutely still achieve his military objectives and win the war - militarily, they remain superior and can win simply by feeding enough men into the meatgrinder.

But the sanctions are not going away any time soon (some of them, perhaps, but a lot won’t) and the cost of the conflict is going to be horrendous for Russia. Even if Ukraine was to capitulate next week, the cost of the conflict is already past the point where it was worth it.

The BBC feed says BP is pulling up its stake in Rosneft.

BP is to exit its shareholding in Russian oil giant Rosneft, the company has announced.

The firm has been under pressure over its nearly 20% holding - on Friday UK business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng is said to have told the oil company’s boss Bernard Looney about his “concern” over the involvement.
