You might as well say you’ll pay $1m for any tank or whatever handed over. Or 10 bucks a bullet etc etc.

That would still be a bargain.

I believe the defensive minister posted about a 5 million ruble reward at some point. Heck, throw in a new iPhone and a Adidas track suit and we might have something going here.

Though as my wife who as a child escaped the soviet union reminded me, their families are still back home.

and the article he references: Brave new world of Putin: An article by the propaganda publication RIA Novosti, which was to be published after the occupation of Ukraine - Militarnyi

Footage from a helicopter assault a few days ago.

With the stress on the last syllable, not the first.

Man could I go for some poutine. Actually the first time I had it was in Victoria BC over 20 years ago most likely, and it wasn’t even “real” poutine with the curds, but with grated parmesan all over it. Still amazing.

Nice.

The article Buea is talking about is worth reading.

Because the construction of a new world order – and this is the third dimension of current events – is accelerating, and its contours are more and more clearly visible through the spreading cover of Anglo-Saxon globalization. The multipolar world has finally become a reality – the operation in Ukraine is not capable of rallying anyone but the West against Russia. Because the rest of the world sees and understands perfectly well – this is a conflict between Russia and the West, this is a response to the geopolitical expansion of the Atlanticists, this is Russia’s return of its historical space and its place in the world.
China and India, Latin America and Africa, the Islamic world and Southeast Asia – no one believes that the West leads the world order, much less sets the rules of the game. Russia has not only challenged the West, it has shown that the era of Western global domination can be considered completely and finally over. The new world will be built by all civilizations and centers of power, naturally, together with the West (united or not) – but not on its terms and not according to its rules.

Overwhelming image of Russian army as a collection of Cousin Roman’s from GTA IV now fixed.

Well, the problem, you see, is there aren’t any trees to winch onto.

Nice. I knew there had to be a decent Escape from Tarkov joke in all this mess. Glad you found it! :)

Also nice! Yep, this is Qt3, all right.

Not sure if this has been posted before. Apologies if it has been.

Good article from last November analyzing the Russian Army’s poor logistical capabilities. Tl;dr, they’re simply not organized to operate very far from a railhead. Not enough trucks, and logistical units are a size smaller across all their formations than in the US Army.

for me, the telling paragraph was:

Russia building a financial wall to prevent corporations from leaving. That feels familiar somehow, but I can’t quite place it…

So, back to the invasion, I’m a little surprised that relatively little happened today (obvious caveats not to downplay the attacks that did happen, etc.) I thought the big Russian push was pretty much on the way, are we just a bit farther out or are there decent indicators it’s stalling further?

They’re still massing. It’s going to get really bad.

When your logistics and planning are dogshit, things take longer than we’re used to.

But since Russia isn’t a proper nation, they’re still slowly moving their pieces into position.

Likely they are moving IFVs with soldiers and tanks to the front of the column, preparing to fight. This is going to be wild when they enter the city… It’s going to look like Aleppo soon, just destroyed building facades everywhere.

Right, I’m trying to square the circle about whether the delays up until now were solely due to logistics, due to trying to appear to be “Peackeepers” or a mixture of both. Gloves off I would expect Russia to be able to power through any minor problems and just accept loss of material to get the job done. My suspicion is that they are still under a pretty strong impetus to appear to be “liberators.” Please note all double quotes are intentional, they’re a crony army for a crony state doing abhorrent things.

This was an interesting article about how Russia may be able to get around Russian sanctions.

Caveats, I’ve never heard of this website, the authors all appear to be strongly anti-west, sort of like that Russian propaganda piece pyrhic posted

I think the peacekeeper ruse was dropped a while ago. Certainly not showing that in Kharkiv.
