If their drone capability suddenly expands, that’s a much clearer indication of outside support at a strategic rather than tactical level.

I mean North Vietnam suddenly got a bunch of Russian SAMS and warplanes (and even Russian pilots), so it’s not like this is new ground. We gave the Mujahideen Stingers specifically to shoot down Hinds and it wasn’t anything especially crazy at the time.

Thing is if the Ukrainians had a Predator it likely wouldn’t make it long anyway. They sort of require air supremacy to be viable. And a lot of ground crew stuff the Ukrainians don’t have. Training, etc, etc. We could totally sell (give) them a couple and hope for the best, but it becomes a matter of RoI as these things always do.

Right, but we knew very well that Russia and China were fighting a proxy war in Vietnam, we just didn’t push the issue. Russia is the crackhead dancing on the subway with a machete. We’re maybe letting him get away with some stuff just so it doesn’t go really sideways.

Basically he’s saying that if the politicians put Russia’s retaliation into the money they’ve been giving that will, he wonders.

I think it is likely that it was all part of this same campaign, and was an attempt seed discord in the west before moving on to actual conflict.
