Putin is addressing his security council. This time not even far away in a huge room, via video. He is really showing his trust there

crap daily mail link

crap pravda.ru link: Deputy Commander of the 41st Army, Major General Sukhovetsky, killed in Ukraine

Apparently reported in some social media of fellow officers in Russia as well.

Sure. I’m sure there’s a lot of things that the Russians would want. But again, why would the Chinese provide it for them?

Apple keeps changing the damn connectors! How are they supposed to know which one to pack now?

The link provided is the Daily Mail, which isn’t reputable. Not that it means it’s not true, just that I wouldn’t take anything I read from the Daily Mail without a hefty dose of salt.

The real logistical nightmare. :)

That is way too polite. They will have made every single word up and have only one source for a tiny aspect of the story. It is heartening that the story is true but it isn’t journalism we’re consuming from this source, I can assure you.

That was just the last one I saw and grabbed it without thinking about it. I’ll swap it out for another.

Edit: Russian Pravda is reporting the same thing, along with Newsweek (I think there are crap these days yes? and MSN which appears to be just linking the Newsweek story. Basically it all goes back to Vkontakte posting from one of his comrades. Bellincat exec director tweeting it out as well.

These Twitter bots pushing #IStandWithPutin are embarassing, frankly. How the heck does this actually work? I do see the hashtag trending.

Some levity

It is an ex-market. It has ceased to be.

It would strengthen the relationship. The fact that they aren’t helps us to frame it. They’re close enough to discuss a coming invasion, but they aren’t so close that China are willing to back that invasion in public.

I think that’s pretty interesting.

It really is, especially since it’s closed indefinitely. I didn’t even both to look up if the Moscow Exchange planned to open. I just assume every day we’ll just get an announcement that they will not open tomorrow.

Maybe it’s just pinin’ for the fjords?

I keep reading that martial law may be declared in Russia on 4 March. If so, that’s surely a sign that Putin is #winning

Can you call the stock market comrade? Is that allowed?

China’s not dumb, this is all playing out perfectly from their perspective. If any party could be said to be “winning” the current shitshow that Putin started, it’s China. Russia is now going to be a pariah state highly dependent upon China for a hell of a lot of imports that they can’t get anywhere else. China knows EXACTLY how to take advantage of this and has practice managing the situation.

Congratulations Russia, your current trajectory leads to being North Korea 2.0.

It’s a good thing Norway is a NATO member.

One thing I wonder: Are Russian gas deals done on a Net 30-60-90 basis for payment? It would be kinda hilarious for the EU to have received a few million gallons of fuel and still get to pay for it with the destroyed ruble exchange rate.

I know this is a fast-moving thread but I found it funny that you literally just thanked scott for noting it was a “Bloomberg European correspondent” that tweeted the info on public executions when scott posted the exact same Kitty Donaldson tweet an hour earlier.

Just for clarity, no ill will, etc, intended, just made me chuckle.
