Since the Russians are pretty much shooting at everything, journalists are also starting to find themselves in dangerous situations.

Early in the conflict two Danish journalists were shot near Ohtyrka, one through the legs, and the other through the shoulder. They’re home now. Danish Russia/Ukraine expert Matilde Kimer was also under fire in Kharkiv, but managed to get out.

Here it’s Stuart Ramsey from Sky News being lit up. Everyone makes it out alive, but it’s still pretty disturbing to watch.

Coca Cola executives, go fuck yourself.

Did any video of Zelensky addressing a huge rally in Georgia get posted here already?

I remember that! Loved it back in the day. Which, admittedly, was, um, a long time ago.

Talk about having greatness thrust upon you.

I really hope he survives this.

Death squad? That’s kind of…odd terminology.

Hopefully we get a BTR in the next Farming Simulator 22 expansion.

The Verkhovna Rada is the Ukrainian Parliament.

So messed up.

Doh! My mistake. Then the no no fly zone zone rule applies.

Reading it on TASS I thought for a second it was a sarcastic statement by the Russians, will read more carefully next time.

Tire maintenance intel guy thinks the infamous 40-mile column is basically out of the war at this point.

Tl;dr: vehicles are surely out of fuel at this point and tankers can’t reach them due to how tightly vehicles are packed in and the impassable mud to either side. Any refueling will have to be done starting with the rearmost vehicles, perhaps by hand / jerry can because of tight packing. Then fueled vehicles have to back out to make room to get to the next ones. So the convoy is only going to move slowly, and probably only backwards. By now the accompanying troops have run / are running out of food. Also notes reports that Ukrainian forces are starting to target all these stranded vehicles.

I dunno if it is true, but it’s certainly plausible. This is apparently where that general was killed, when he came to the front to try to do something about the mess.

No problem. Another telling sign is the spelling of the name “Oleksandr”. Its Russian version is “Aleksandr”.

If only the Russian Army had some institutional knowledge about war in the East.

Well, Rada instead of Duma was kind of a giveaway. Was just trying too hard for a no fly zone joke.

The Ukrainians are referring to them as saboteurs, which I guess means some kind of recon or special forces.

It’s impossible to tell who is shooting from the footage, but I think it would be really odd for Ukrainians to start firing at civilian cars inside their own country.

It’s also extremely odd for special forces. You would think they had some kind of interest in staying hidden, and not just blasting random people, unless that was somehow part of the mission.

Alas, the same thing happened to the two Danish journalists who were wounded. They were also traveling in a civilian car. They have an idea of who fired on them, but won’t say until they have confirmation.

However, when they were wounded, and before they were rescued, they were told to turn off their mobile phones so the Russians couldn’t track them. That might be an indication. One way to get rid of the press is to start killing journalists deliberately.

Specifically ununiformed forces.

No kidding. What an inane Tweet. Seems the only support for it being a “death squad” is this, from the actual Sky News story @MelesMeles posted:

So, basically, indeterminate people with decent aim. Still harrowing, but hardly contact with a death squad, whatever that’s supposed to mean.

Since it didn’t seem like there was any fighting in the immediate area, I’m guessing it was just someone panicking.

There is a video deep in that thread above that purports to be the remains of the Russian force that tried to resupply / reinforce at Hostomel. It’s pretty gruesome — destroyed IFVs with bodies hanging from the hatches, burned bodies on the ground, body parts scattered around.

It occurred to me that when Trump called Putin smart, even if we ignore the moral and ethical problems with his praise of Putin, I think at this point we’ve seen that, once again, Trump is an imbecile who’s instincts are garbage.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was not “smart” by any conceivable measure. It’s a fiasco. It was a terrible decision by Putin.

Trump is, and always had been, an idiot.
