Part of the pay discrepancy is that the European women’s teams (soccer especially) are often part of a larger athletic/sporting club which usually has a super lucrative and popular men’s soccer team under it (or at least they play in a league with such clubs). A combination of fan support for the athletic club spilling over into women’s sport, direct financial support from the athletic club into the women’s teams, and indirect financial support from competing in a sports ecosystem with this setup helps increase the payouts.
Basketball is a bit different as the above setup is less common. For instance, Griner’s team is not part of a larger athletic club, but rather is owned by a heavy industrial company. However, Europe has long had a successful basketball infrastructure and started investing into the women’s game decades ago (first Women’s EuroLeague season was in 1958) whereas the WNBA was founded in the late '90s (even the NCAA didn’t sanction a women’s basketball tournament until the '80s).
…resulting in one of the all time great comic movie performances, however it was achieved!
Amazing maps, which definitely appeal to the wargamer in me. But sometimes that level of detail is almost anti-convincing. Can just another random OSINT info gatherer really have that detailed an OOB for both sides and be able to accurately place them on a map?
One guy with a riot shield would have stopped all the munitions being fired into it?
Huge smashed Russian convoy:
@pyrhic, get back on that warship!
Or, maybe, get on a warplane - that game was developed by Persha Studio in Kyiv.

nukes landed is not something we want at any price short of NATO being overrun, and you’re quite likely being optimistic.

Not to mention that expecting a 95 percent failure rate is absurd . It would, of course be way higher in reality.

Bringing riot gear in before they’ve even captured a city.

Being a comedian comes in handy sometimes. First part is the supposed video of Putin with the stewardesses.
Interesting overview of the power dynamics in Russia:

I was just coming here to post that @Grifman! It’s mostly a rather depressing read, as she thinks there is very low chance of the sanctions leading to regime change.
I think the one silver lining she offered was this:
So definitely pro-sanctions, just don’t expect the sanctions to lead to the miracle we all are hoping for.
So when Putin dies is there a clear successor in waiting or are the strongmen going to start murdering rivals?

Here’s a nice photo of something positive. I particularly like the Ukrainian blue and yellow in the background, although it looks like that was just fortuitous chance? I can’t imagine that they painted the bus terminal roof blue and then painted a bunch of the busses yellow just to be especially welcoming.
Here is the video Beau is talking about. It appears to have vanished from youtube, but you should be able to see it in this reddit thread. Get past the scripted openings to when the old guy really unloads his feelings. It’s powerful.

Verified City of Kyiv account. It only has this one tweet on it, which was posted today:
The incalculable cost of war.

I haven’t watched the video, but I assume it’s from the press conference described here? Sounds like the NYTimes reporter couldn’t really tell one way or the other whether or not the POWs were there voluntarily.
I sure hope they were, since apparently one of them appealed for the Russian people to overthrow Putin. Making someone say that is probably tantamount to a death sentence for him if he goes back to Russia and is going to cause problems for his family back home.
Article also discusses skirmishing and includes Ukrainian soldiers talking about the war from their side. I thought it was definitely worth a read.
Also of note, Ukrainian Lieutenant says they’ve been receiving Barrett 50-caliber sniper rifles from the US.
