Yeah, Stingers are IR. Most MANPADS are as far as I’m aware. IR trackers are easier to keep man portable compared to radar as I understand it. I think a few are laser/camera-guided, but that seems like it would be a hell of a lot harder of a shot to make.

I remember this was one of the theses in General Sir John Hackett’s World War Three. That once you get to a certain level of urbanisation, the North German Plain wasn’t really a plain anymore. That infantry teams with ATGMs and vehicle mobility had all the cover they needed to continually delay and attrite advancing armoured forces.
