I’m glad people are thinking about this. Hopefully the EU will get it sorted quickly.

Silver linings for our linings…:D

It would seem the Irish are takin’ tings into dare own hands.

“I just done this to create a safe corridor for the Russian ambassador to leave Ireland,” he said.

Not just brave, funny too.

God forbid we should suffer even the slightest inconvenience in order to try and stop Putin.

I seriously hope that Europeans have not become so degenerate that small inconveniences like lack of certain foodstuffs and more expensive computers, etc., is enough to break our resolve to combat fascism.

Exactly.

…and the fact his name sounds like an Austin Powers villian, how can you take it seriously?

I discuss this with the wife. My take is, yes things will get worse, but they aren’t shelling our house.

…says a guy at Moscow state university.

I mean, maybe the Russian’s aren’t presenting the most accurate picture of what the sanctions will do?

To be fair–completely independent of whatever this guy has to say–we (“The West”) should be prepared for severe sanctions to have at least some unintended consequences. The global economy is huge and hard to predict.

Yes, all things considered, sanctions are not supposed to be unilaterally painful. They are less painful than, say, getting into a shooting war, but they still carry a cost. No free lunch and all that.

I think most of those problems are not coming from people not having oil to fry burghers but rather from animal husbandry becoming too costly.

If a variety of experts talk about it then this may indeed be a problem. However my ex-Soviet mindset might be messing with my understanding of what crisis means. Does it mean I will spend 30% of my income on food instead of 20%? Or does it mean soon my children will have to eat whatever I find in the store instead of special vitaminized food for children?

Great time to switch to eating rice I guess

Shit just got real

I wish I knew what shit just got real.

Adidas is sponsoring the Russian army?
Bold move.

To add to the discussion about businesses and Russia, I found this handy chart from the Yale School of Management. It gets updated daily and says to what degree the business has removed itself from Russia (or not).
