It is pretty tempting to watch Enemy at the Gates again. Is it just me or did the movie have many memorable scenes, but overall was pretty meh? The romance in particular was bad.

“We will leave no crime against humanity uncommitted” - unofficial motto of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

By the time I got to my car after seeing it at the theater, about the only scene I could remember was the opening arrival at the front one.

Yup, watch the first ten minutes and then turn it off and read a book about Stalingrad instead.

I read this tome all 672 pages. I wish I could say it was a page-turner. That was in the days before cellphones, streaming, QT3, and zillions of other distractions. I don’t think I could do it again.

This is heroic and terribly heartbreaking.

Such courage and a demonstration of incredible morale. The description of the video suggests they were pulled out. Certainly hope so.

Those aren’t kids, they are middle age men. I almost feel sorry for the Russians facing them.

Interesting:

I’m pretty sure the latest US military aid package has been posted before, but just in case: Aid Package to Ukraine Includes T-72B Tanks > U.S. Department of Defense > Defense Department News

But the item that jumped out at me was the 40 armoured riverine boats. Useful toys for a future Dnipro campaign.

That’s assuming the bridge is not damaged again… which it will be.

So does this make them worse than the Nazis? At least the Nazis properly packaged the art they stole and kept it in climate controlled conditions.

Huh. Out for a year. Those are some interesting half-measures, eh?

Is taking a rail bridge down for a year close enough to a full monty?

tots and pears!

These guys certainly don’t seem worried about an air attack:

Dangerous video to post, I hope they know that. Most likely delayed a lot, we’ve gotten almost no info from the front for a while now…rampant speculation though…

No, but everything looks very well organized and there’s none of the chaos that seems to surround all thee videos we see of Russian forces. Of course, I imagine we only see the “interesting” videos, fully of dysfunction, but the AFU seem pretty buttoned down overall.

As to air defense, I guess they know better than we do what the real threat is (I hope!).

No, but the Russians and Ukrainians both have the same level of social media access. So the differences in the videos we see at least show much more discipline on what gets posted to social media at the very least.

We tend not to see a lot of the positive Russian posts, but those are out there. But I struggle to think of any negative/panicked/chaotic videos from the Ukraine side.
