There’s a more interesting story there that no one’s reporting, namely that the French scientist in question was stealing someone else’s post, and said post was a deliberate (and super obvious) joke.
We’ll need this before the robot dinosaurs eat the world if video games have taught me anything.
Cautiously optimistic that we’ll see fusion plants in our lifetime?

That’s really cool! Lawrence Livermore so it’s not a BS source. Fusion is now always 19 years away instead of 20!
Why does everyone else get the cool names!? :(
Yeah, I hear you. Not only a fancy fusion scientist, but a cool name? Not fair!
He beat out Omar Tsunami for the job.
Oh, and I guess fission is now officially an engineering problem rather than a science problem?
“For reference, one MJ is the kinetic energy of a one tonne mass moving at 100mph.”
Is that true? Handy if so :)
If it would have said 100km/h I might have bought it. Having any metric system measurement match up with a round number imperial measurement makes me skeptical.
I think it’s probably about right, or it would be a weirdly specific thing to say. I expect the miles, square and hours all even out to a nice round number!

1000 imperial seconds is equal to 1 metric ks.
I didn’t know Google could do that, including the conversions. Wow, this suddenly turned into the “show why Google is awesome” thread.

Yeah, you can ask it via voice too, which is a feature I use quite a bit while travelling internationally. “Hey Google, what is 9 L/100km in mpg?”
Ah, “MJ” is a megajoule. I thought we were finally measuring things in Michael Jordans. Or Jacksons. Either would work.
