This is promising: imagine telling your haywire immune system to calm down, as in cases of multiple sclerosis, celiac disease, Type 1 diabetes, and other autoimmune disorders. Where a vaccine trains white blood cells to see a foreign virus as the enemy, this “inverse vaccine” tells the immune system that those normal host cells are friends, and friends are good.

It still has a way to go before human trials, but that’s interesting and encouraging news.
