I agree, I could use that. The funny thing is, it’s a “normal” vaccine, so it’s been years in development, and isn’t scheduled to be approved until 2021. It’s still in phase 3 clinical trials.

Also of note:

At the same time, the investigations into the efficacy of BM32 have shown that the vaccine might also be an effective treatment for hepatitis B and could also bring relief to asthma patients. The MedUni Vienna researchers and experts at Biomay AG believe that other potential applications of BM32 are the treatment of allergies to dust mites, cats and ragweed pollen.

I’m for all of those thing (except Hep B).

I’m glad I don’t really have to come into close contact with cut grass anymore due to leaving the suburbs and moving to the city.

I’ve never seen anyone mow the grass at the park near me. They must do it at night.

I’m watching a Nova special on CRISPR today, it’s excellent and fairly told. I’d encourage people to check it out, as the science is well explained. In addition, it captures some of the joy of science, where someone says “Well, THAT’S WEIRD”, and then people attempt to explain why, which leads to lots of cool discoveries.

Bonus points to them for discussing balancing selection in the form of sickle-cell and malaria. It’s something one normally doesn’t think about with gene editing [1]. Learning about balancing selection many years ago was one of mechanisms that really changed my outlook on what a “good” or “bad” trait is, how some “bad” ones persist in spite of natural selection, and why we should cherish diversity in how we look, think, and act.

Fascinating!

“Hello to all those Neanderthal ladies out on the dance floor tonight!”

Yeah, right. Tell that to Cleve Blakemore.

Had I not sold out and gone into video games my plan was to become a cybernetic engineer building artificial parts for the disabled. Glad to see this sort of life altering technology becoming available!

Cyberpunk a’comin’!

Did they miss a zero?

That’s a start at least. Not good enough yet to plug into a GPU and play Beat Saber (even in monochrome). But getting there.

No, in India they use commas instead of periods and don’t follow the 3 digit rule the same way we do.

And then you get into things like lake’s and hell if you can follow numbers.

I Lakh this post.

And you had to makhani a post about it.

Making a post about lahks is hard-crore.

I am wobbling my head side to side, if you know what I mean.

I actually understand that.

::friendly side to side head shake::

Well it seems nobody has any doubts about things so we are good here

I love cats and I hope this holds up to scrutiny. Would show they have more ability than given credit form, but have a lot more self determination than other animals such as dogs.

Some physicists at University of Arkansas have discovered a way to produce electricity from brownian motion, which was previously thought impossible.

This is potentially a big deal.

If I’m understanding this correctly, this would end up being a “free” energy source? Brownian motion is just the random vibration of atoms, so technically no electrons are lost. Is this scalable you think?
