Picked up Generations. I’ve been lucky – no major problems on expansions to date, so I guess my number was up. Sims getting perma-stuck after trying to take photos, and the game just freezing up for a minute every 30 seconds.
Sadness.
New expansion announced: Sims 3 Pets!

The horses look interesting. I hope they implemented a little more than what came with Sims 2 pets though. This might get me playing again.

Anyone still playing this and want to be my friend? I picked the whole big package deal during the Steam summer sale, and have just started getting into it.
I know I’m extremely late to the party, but I’ve been enjoying it. I guess, on the upside there’s a metric crapton of free and modded content out there. I’ve been reading through the thread to get tips, but I wanted to post and stuff too. :D
Your link has some html stuck to the end of it. I can be your friend, but I don’t have a computer that can play at the moment.
I’m disappointed to see that EA is removing items from the Sims 3 store. It doesn’t seem to make any sense. The data can’t take up that much space, and I’m not going to just choose something else just because they removed what I was thinking of getting.
Is there a good reason they would do this?
They’ve started removing stuff? I did not know this.
So far I’ve found that Asian Fusion, Bayside, Storybook, and Ultra Lounge (the one I was eying) say “Not available.” I assume those who bought them can still redownload, but they’re not for sale anymore.
The Sims patch notes are the best patch notes.
Baby Sims will no longer become stuck on a Sim’s hand while driving a car.
Sims who are on fire will no longer be forced to attend graduation before they can put themselves out.
Speculation I’ve read is the Sims store has never taken off so now they are attempting to give the illusion of scarcity to help sales. They are also including fewer items in the expansion packs. I’m not sure any of that is true.
I thought I read on the EA forums or some announcement that those specific items were removed from the store because they will be part of the forthcoming Town Life Stuff Pack.
That would be a pretty scummy thing to pull on people if it’s not labeled as such.

Subject: The Sims 3 Store ‘Spring Cleaning’ Forum FAQ
Q: What is the Spring Cleaning Sale?
A: The Sims 3 Store is doing some spring cleaning to make room for newer, exclusive content for our The Sims 3 fans. On June 13, Ultra Lounge, Bayside, Asian Fusion, and Storybook Sets will be removed from The Sims 3 Store, so catch them while you can!
Q: If I already own the sets, will I still be able to download them?
A: Yes! If you already own the sets they will always be in your purchase history. Go to your Purchase History, find your set and click the “Download” link. Your The Sims 3 Launcher will download the item.
Q: Will I still be able to buy the sets after the Spring Cleaning Sale?
A: Some sets will remain available for purchase as part of our Compilation Sets.
To make room? Is the server full? I wish they had explained the reason for doing this.
Unfortunately, I think their reason is “We’re EA, we can do what we want.”

I remembered in this thread somewhere, (or maybe it was in the Sims Medieval thread?) Tom lamented the lack of people really doing any challenges like he did with the Rush Boomturtle household.
I know most people aren’t playing it anymore, but I did want to remark that in my adventures around the labyrinth of weird as hell Sims 3 sites (there’s some really odd stuff that people make out there) I have found there are people that do challenges and contests.
In fact, there’s one group that has a whole running tournament of challenges that runs throughout the year, and they’re all pretty darn creative.
Anyhow, just thought I’d share. :)
Man, I had trouble just furnishing my guy’s starter house, let alone doing any wacky sorts of challenges. I really should jump back into the game. The one and only Sim I made was just on the cusp of moving from young adulthood to adulthood and maybe being able to afford a kitchen table or something.
The new form of writer’s procrastination: creating my protagonists in The Sims 3! Unfortunately (fortunately?) there’s a dearth of steampunk-suitable clothes out of the box, and the steampunk set on the website costs points.
