So, the latest patch adds social media integration. Which wouldn’t be so bad EXCEPT…

There’s a “twitter” style ui… THAT CONTINUALLY COVERS THE MESSAGE AREA! You can tab over to the messages, but once you read the message, yep, goes back to the “post on your wall” tab. Blocking any future messages. Unless you click over to the messages tab again.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I can’t imagine who thought for a second this was a good idea. :(

Edit: You can turn this off by disabling the online integration, fortunately. Though that also entirely disables the new Achievement system.

so, I went ahead and purchased all of the expansions for this that we were missing (Nightlife and up). Using the older town (the original town, I think), I was able to put down the new buildings for the pets stuff. What about the night clubs and whatever?

I have yet to witness any vampires, either. Am I missing something? I see some celebrities walking around, but no vampires at night (and I am a ghost hunter). And no bars or clubs or anything like that…

If I recall, I think you can make your own bar or club on an empty allotment. Or you can also (again if I recall) place a pre-designed bar or club. You just need to specify it on the town map. This is going from vague-ish memories. Just select an empty allotment and go from there?

Do you have story progression turned on? I think that’s required to populate your town with vampires and celebrities.

Alternatively, You might just not be recognising the vampires. They’re sort of yellowish and faintly glowing, and get a red-tinted portrait on the relationship screen.

Ok so this is the steam mid week sale but the question I have is which of the DLC is really good and worth it?

For preordering Showtime on Origin I have a code for a free copy of either Fast Lane Stuff, Outdoor Living Stuff, or High-End Loft Stuff.

So if anyone wants an Origin copy of one of these, let me know.

DLC wise I think Ambitions is probably the best, with World Adventures right behind. Both add major new systems that are very worthwhile. WA adds the most actual new gameplay, but Ambitions is more directly integrated with the core game.

After that I’d say Late Night & Pets are about equal, depending on whether vampires & celebrities appeal to you more than horses & dogs/cats.

Generations is the lamest of the bunch, easily. Unless there’s something I’m just missing from it, it’s basically a glorified “stuff” pack.

Just got Showtime but haven’t had a chance to play around with it.

Anyone played this on the DS? Does it play the same as the PC version? My daughter is playing it and can’t find the option to have babies. She must gave babies dammit!

I haven’t played the DS version, but I will bet you dollars to donuts it doesn’t play like the PC version. However, like RL, babies must be preceded by woohoo. I’m not sure how old your daughter is, but unless you’re prepared to have the woohoo talk with her, maybe she’s not ready for Sims babies.

WHAT?! No mention of this? http://www.gamespot.com/the-sims-3-katy-perrys-sweet-treats/platform/pc/

Pfft, and we call this a respectable gaming site.

Sims 3 Supernatural releases on Tuesday. $39.99. I just pre-ordered the digital edition on Amazon. Somewhat excited to get my Sims on again. (Um, that came out wrong.)

It looks like the Amazon digital edition comes with the extras (judging from the product description’s preorder text box), but I’m not 100% certain as it doesn’t confirm that via the shopping cart, etc. I’d prefer to purchase through Amazon, but adding the digital edition to a shopping cart in the Origin Store automatically adds the Plants vs. Zombies content pack and the Origin Exclusive Plants vs. Zombies Decor Pack for $0, which is more reassuring.

Thread is caught in aloop. Might post a few threads til it turns to the next page properly.

Modwise - is there a mod that would have freeze all the ages of the people in town while you age normally? By the time I get to know someone I’m dead.

Also, is there a balance mod? It is way too easy to make money. Maybe something that gave you more time during the day, bet less money would be neat.

Did EA (or anyone else for that matter) ever fix fishing after one of the patches broke it?

Smosh guys playing Supernatural

(Sorry, guys, don’t have the answers to your questions.)

Q&A from the EA forums. Interesting new supernatural entity population control options (which appears to also be available, now, for other EPs).

MORE OF YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!

We’re back to answer more of your questions and this time, we’ve grouped together all your queries around advanced population options.

As you may have heard, we’re including advanced settings for controlling the population of some of the Sims types in the game, including some of the types introduced in previous expansion packs. With the new settings you’ll be able to control the population growth of: vampires, fairies, werewolves, witches, pets, horses, and celebrities. You can allow your populations to continue to grow as normal (the default) or turn population growth off completely for each of the supported Sim types. However, the control is global and cannot be configured differently for each world or saved game. Of course, you must have the appropriate expansion pack for some types to appear at all.

Check out our responses below and let us know if you still have questions. Also, we’ll be posting more responses to your questions on other topics next week. Stay tuned and keep them coming! It is great to see so many of you excited for The Sims 3 Supernatural and asking so many questions.

Advanced Demographic Options

Will we be able to determine the number of pets in the neighborhood? Mainly unicorns.

Answer - You’ll be able to control whether or not the game populates the world with horses and pets, but not specifically unicorns. Who doesn’t like unicorns?

I would like to know if a zombie population slider will be included with the rest of the sliders? In the chat celebrity sliders and vampire, werewolve, ect. sliders were mentioned, but not zombies! Sorry if this is repetitive

Answer – The population control settings are on/off checkboxes and not sliders. Zombies are not one of the Sim types that you can control from the new settings. If you are interested in having more or less zombies in your world there are other ways that their population can be effected, such as using your Sims to turn other Sims into zombies through the new “brains” interaction. Also look for zombies to appear in the world on a full moon, those zombies will be cured the following morning. Sims can also make elixirs that create or cure zombies, therefore increasing or reducing the amount that you have in the world.

Is it possible to choose different settings for amount-of-occults in every new saved game, or is it just one slider for every game?

Answer - The new population controls affect the game globally just like the other settings in the options menu and are not associated with individual saved games.

So, say that I start a new game in Bridgeport, and I set the vampire population to zero. Will the pre-made vampires stay as vampires? Or will they turn human?

Answer - Vampires that already exist in Bridgeport at the time you un-check the vampire checkbox will remain as vampires in Bridgeport, The existing vampires can still “turn” other Sims however the game will not auto populate new vampires to the world after you un-check the box.

I know that you can control Supernatural Sims and celebrities. But are PAPARAZZI going to be controllable as well, or is that not possible because they will not be part of the playable population?

Answer - You can’t directly control the paparazzi population with the new settings but there are two new options that will allow players to limit the celebrity populations in different ways, and as a result, the paparazzi that are drawn to them will be reduced. One option will allow you to prevent your active household from gaining celebrity status and the other option gives players the ability to control whether or not the game tries to maintain a balance of Sims with celebrity status in the world.

I did watch the video (not live) but would like to know it the population control will be available “without” the EP, via a patch or update? I am not planning on buying the EP but would already like to control vamp and celeb populations I already have.

Answer - The new settings will be available in the options menu if you have one of the expansion packs installed that includes one or more of the specific Sims types that are supported. The new settings will be released through a Game Update that will go out with the launch of The Sims 3 Supernatural.

Oh nice. I was actually planning to uninstall Night Life for the next new game I started, just to solve the vampire and celebrities problem. Now I won’t have to.

Bunch of Sims 3 deals on GameFly, ranging from $7.99 to $15.99.

Nieces and I had loads of fun playing Supernatural this past weekend.

The big problem I’ve been having with all the Sims3 titles though is nothing feels surprising. Every single action can be queued, and I just never seem to see unqie behavior on their own nor anything going on that creates an amazing undicated story.

Am I playing wrong or do other people feel the same way?
