Speaking of Circlejerk, does anyone have any suggestions on where engineers should set up? I’ve tried going engy half-a-dozen times on that map, and rarely does it have the impact I would expect. It seems that half the time I don’t have time to set up, and the other half, my turret and I get demo’d to hell and back.

I’ve never fully grasped the strategy of CircleJerk, but it’s probably best to avoid building a sentry on your starting point. Go follow the attackers to the second point and build there (IIRC, the second point for both teams are in less open areas). One of them has a ledge with a wall that you can hide behind, the other one has a few obvious spots.
It’s also good to detail 2-3 guys to run backwards and just generally spoil the other team’s advance. They can also cover for the engineer(s) during construction.
Yeah, this seems to be the best way to win on circle jerk. Send two or three of your better players backwards and have them delay the other team long enough for your guys to circle around.

So Friday night is often a gaming night for me, and often TF2 is on the menu. Would anyone else be interested in getting together for another practice session, given that our PoE match is imminent?

Yeah, I think that’s the plan. We can probably use POE’s mostly neglected third server “Quit Gettin’ Mad at Video Games!” since it has Circlejerk and Garbage Day.
What time? I’m should be available around 10pm est. I’d definitely be interested since I missed the last practice…

Is it 9 PM or 10 PM est for the practice tonight? And tomorrow the match is at 9 correct?
PoE has decided that they’re going to practice on QGMaVG, so let’s fake them out and go to Garbage Day instead.
Practice is at 10 PM so far as I know.

I’m setting up a temp dedicated server (hopefully it will work correctly) so we can go through the maps and plan out some strategies. Even if pings are crap, we can at least get a bit co-ordinated before moving on to another server to pummel some pubbies.
I should be on steam shortly before 10 and will contact people with the ip/password (assuming this works).

I think I’m going to need all the practice I can get for circle jerk, I’ve only been on that map once and lost badly on it.

Argh, a friend is suddenly coming into town and crashing with me this weekend. I will try my best to make it to practice and the match, but no guarantees. Fortunately, said friend is a gamer and is understanding about these things…
I didn’t get to join practice, but afterward I tried to play a little on the PoE server. I was entirely useless as anything but a pyro. Ugh.
note: The air compressor seriously pisses them off. I used it heavily.

I’ll be on around 5PM PST if there’s any practice going on. I’ll also be getting voice chat set up (finally).
I will be getting on a little early tonight to practice. Are we short a particular class?
Hard to be sure. I think it would be great to have two engies for some rapid early building, particularly on Circlejerk. I expect we’ll need to use some of the warm up time for getting class balance right.
Another suggestion from last match was for people to try to pair up in groups, especially for stacking medics and giving the turrets some spy/demo protection with a pyro etc.
Also, we need to come up with some sort of psychological defense against Jingle Cats. I’ve got nothing, but I did turn sprays off just for this match!
Are you saying All Talk will be on for the match?
Good point - I don’t know for sure, but I think that it is supposed to be OFF. So I guess we’re safe from the horror for now. On the other hand, I’m still leaving sprays turned off.
Last night someone mentioned that they knew a sniper player who put a mark on their monitor - how would that help you with the task of exploding heads?
Alltalk will not be on. Jingle Cats are, by consensus, only played during setup anyway.
I wonder if drilling holes in the monitor would help a sniper…

From what he was saying, the mark on his monitor makes it much faster for him to pre-aim before zooming in. Also: the sniper rifle is totally accurate unzoomed, it just does crappy damage.
Personally, I wouldn’t want anything but a wipe cloth to ever touch my screen.
