You know full well there’ll be tons of people with the achievements within the first few days, regardless of whether farming for them is possible or not. It’s inevitable. And that never changes… there’ll always be people without the unlocks, it’s the nature of the thing.

I’ve seen lots of servers with damage tweaked, or with ridiculous max health, etc, but it is possible to really mix up the game in a way that downloads on server connect (like Unreal does). An engineer with a gun that works like the medic heal, but drains ammo from opponents – it that possible without requiring an external download? Used to see tweaks like that all the time on Unreal servers and once in awhile they were awesome.

At least Valve’s unlocks aren’t the sort that just give you more power, they all come with a trade-off for use, it’s not like Gamestop just gave you an M1A1, for example. Sure, you get the bat, but you can’t double jump. You can cause all crits, but you’re still damagable.

This is true except for the ubersaw. There’s really no reason to not be using the uber saw.

I can’t get up on a server yet. Four fails, all different reasons thus far… File inconsistency, outright crash, even.

Finally got into one. Guess I won’t report a bug now.

I got into one. Scouts everywhere of course, most of them with all three unlocks already. Fucking cheaters. Valve should ban them.

Most of the players are wretched at scout too. Had 8 scouts on the team along with one engineer and myself (pyro). Engy got a kill and I got two, none of the scouts got any. Scout says “who the hell cares about winning I want to unlock my guns”.

The earlier everyone gets all the weapons the better. You can’t get a proper game in with all the scouts running about.

It seems they also took away the spy ability to regain cloak at a dispenser while cloaked – if you’re cloaked, it now just refills fast enough to balance out the amount of cloak you’re using.

Thanks god Valve doesn’t consider weapon unlocking as a cheat, then. I mean, the information is hosted locally, in your pc in a file, instead of on their secure servers, it’s not like they are trying to protect it, and they also permit the farm achievement servers.

That bat is crazy. Getting stunned as a heavy and then killed helplessly by the scout just seems wrong to me. This update is probably the best one yet in terms of unlocks. The heavy/pyro unlocks just don’t really compare.

And here I’ve just been getting back into playing over the last week or so. The game will be pretty unplayable for the next week as folks swarm every map as scouts.

Edit for question: I searched for a QT3 group for TF2, but all I could find was the L4D group. Is there a group of folks who play TF2 regularly? Just hitting up random servers can get frustrating with the wide swings of skill levels. I’m not saying I’m a great player by any means, but would love to find a more consistant group to play with.

The Qt3 TF2 “clan” has more or less lost coherence. Most of us play with the Portal of Evil group on Garbage Day and Deke Lord Chet and the Glee Club.

Keep an eye open for Iron Xides or me, we play a lot.
