gonna push this thread up to moan a bit.
I mainly play demo or heavy and the game’s getting pretty unplayable on public servers for me at the moment due to the Force-A-Nature scouts running around 2-shotting me in a second or shooting me over a ledge. Why the fastest class in the game was given two snares as unlockables I don’t know. Here’s hoping for a fat scout nerf and a heavy buff next patch.
On the plus side I’ve started doing pickup 6v6 games. It’s bizarre how the game’s makeup changes so much and I can see why people like the format so much - I used to think it was sorta stupid. Apart from the obvious logistical effort of only having a team of six as opposed to 12, the game becomes a lot more about individual skill, covering for each-other’s weaknesses and controlling strategically important corners and corridors and having areas of influence sorta deal with regards to strategy. Scouts act as sort of a protecting class, keeping the heavier hitters and the medic safe. Soldiers are all-purpose killing machines and medic protectors. Demomen are fire support and can close off chokepoints but need constant protection as they are vulnerable to scouts. And so on. Other classes are used too but to a lesser extent but they all have their tactical strength (even pyros). Plus the individual skill of a good medic really shines in this format.
It really shows off the real depth this game has; in the average 24 player server you’ll only get those few moments of brilliance - and it never surfaces in a 32-player spamfest.
Annoying your team is what the sandwich is for!
are you forced to delete when you have a full inventory? i got stuff a couple times and it automatically dropped me into inventory and wanted me to discard stuff.

Yup. When you’re deleting, it may pay off to compare the levels of your gear. Not that it’s evident what the levels signify, but I deleted a level 5 sandwich tonight in favor of a level 90 one.
Items vary in level? Never noticed that. Hopefully I didn’t prune anything worth having from my inventory.
yeah I did some deleting without looking first, but all is well because I found a lvl 96 force of nature. If I ever change my mind and decide the force of nature is actually worth using, this weapon will come in handy.
Does the game list the benefit differences between the same item with different levels?

They are all the same. Adding different levels of an item would be insane.
That was my thinking. So why even give the items levels?
Reading that thread made me more confused than I was.
BLUE, we need a response!

I think they originally put the level #'s in as a kind of goof, where your base weapons were level 1 and the first unlockables (like the ubersaw or backburner) were level 10 or whatnot. They’re so l33t!
As they kept adding unlockables, it’s hard to say why they have random levels. Assuming someone, somewhere decided level #'s for the first few weapons, it’s weird to think that someone would put in a random level generator completely by accident. Maybe they have something planned down the line, but for now, it’s mostly insignificant.
Well, leveled-items give the accomplishment-oriented crowd something new to obsess over. As for the hats, that’s just game tax, except for the filthy cheaters connecting to 24/7-idle servers.
That took me a good moment to get.
It then received an applause.
awesome but he really needs a bright blue suit.

Took me a minute to find what the pic meant. Bloody awesome.
Also, I’m happy. Got a level 99 KGB the other night.
Hey Lizard_King, were you on a Reddit server tonight? I saw your nick in-game.
I was starting to burn out on this game a few weeks ago. Playing medic for more than one round is kind of boring, and my pyro skills had really plateaued. But then I started really trying to use the demoman, and I have got to say, rarely have I ever felt like such a badass. Sure, those moments are rare, but they are so awesome. Bouncing a mid-air scout or soldier, then finishing them with a second makes you feel good. Sticky gate kills, triple kill cap prevents and crazy jumps just make for a fun time.
I’ve also been doing a little spying on the side when I get in a demo rut. I’m starting to learn some of the basics (I’ve sapped a sentry, then stabbed the engineer who made it for instance) but I always feel like I am not contributing enough to the team, so I change classes after a death or two.
