I’m not sure either way. The copy seems way below Valve’s usual standard, and there’s typos everywhere. It seems weird to bring a new class in without updating the existing ones. The mechanics listed are plausible though, even the concept is pretty fucking loopy. Valve have form for being a bit slippery with these updates, so I guess we’ll see.

EDIT: I am stupid. I didn’t look at the URL for that fifty webs thing and assumed it was official. Bearing in mind it isn’t, so far as I can tell, I reckon this is an Engineer update and the gun-dog is a response to the mobile sentry concept that’s been bandied about for yonks.

I think the note’s format is an indication that this isn’t all that similar to anything Valve actually had planned. If it were, I’d think they’d have marked the copyright-infringing boxes instead of the invention submission boxes.

Of course, I could be wrong about that, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they worked a reference to this into a future update regardless.

I went into the game to clear out some backpack space in anticipation of the possibility of new hats.

There I discovered that at some point, Valve added a second backpack page, as well as sorting options (by class, by item type) which is neat.

I also discovered that I have 7 cloak and daggers.

Actually it says the five new achievements will unlock the new hats. There may be more or less than five hats.

And yeah, they boosted the backpack to like 100 slots a while back.

Aw man, one of the hats was a free dealie like the Soldier’s medal. But it’s gone now.

But wait! You can get it too if you dominate someone wearing the hat!

What’s annoying about it is I clicked the ghastly gibus hat and it registered telling me I’d get it soon, but I still haven’t got it. And since they’re gone now I’m afraid I won’t get it. THE SCARIEST PROSPECT OF ALL!

Got all five achievements and took not much more than an hour. 2am and I finally get into a groove with soldier just now, considering I was playing fairly badly all night, or maybe it was just the other players on different servers were too good. I was juggling a lot better with the rockets though.

I am filled with achievements! Most of them were pretty easy, admittedly, but the Attack o Lantern was tricky. Fun though, and I really like the idea. I wouldn’t mind seeing similar things in other maps, it was fun to blast a bomb and catch someone retreating around a corner, or to blast one and get a kill as a medic.
