Hell yeah!

Awwww, that sucks for me. Hope your server is full early and often!

Wooo Dublin!! :)

I’ll check in on it as soon as I can figure out a way to get this this running on the laptop. My specs should be enough to play but I’m hitting serious issues, suppose thats what I get for trying to game on a laptop without a proper graphics card. (it must be a driver issue, I can play CoH fine and its way more graphic intensive then TF2)

For some reason, TF2 has this problem with graphics cards. I don’t know why, but I have to scale down my screen res and graphics settings in order for it to play without the nVidia driver crashing. A lot of people have had similar complaints, the only option is to scale the settings back. And yeah, this is in comparison to games like FarCry2, CoH, or Left4Dead which run flawlessly with the max settings on my laptop.

I’ve heard that TF2 is more CPU limited than GPU.

Such an addicting game. Several hours later you look at the clock and wonder where the time went.

Real multiplayer newbie here. Just installed TF2 and having some fun running around as a scout, while trying to stay alive longer than a minute…! Any Qt3 Servers / Clans out there?

Yay Dublin. Maybe we can setup times for matches.

Sounds good. I’m in Europe too, so time zone problems aren’t really an issue.

No, but join the Qt3 Steam group to see who plays where. Check the forum FAQs for a list of Steam names.

Thanks!

With the recent sale, several friends of mine picked this up. I’m trying to get a local server to learn how to play, but in the meantime I’m trying to find any that are not in use. Bonus if it is password protected to keep pubbies from wiping everyone out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest you start by loading up the designer commentary modes. Not only is the information interesting, but it gives you a chance to run around on several of the “core” maps without having to worry about people shooting at you.

As for multiplayer, I find that the most useful “skill” is in deciding when to run away; suicide rushes have their uses, but generally it’s better to withdraw and come back with reinforcements.

You and your buddies might also be interested in the Gamers With Jobs public server. The average skill level is high, but they’re welcoming of new players so long as you’re trying to cooperate and be productive members of the team.

Sam and Max goodies for TF2

If you buy The Penal Zone on Steam. $34.99 for two in-game handguns and a hat? I’ll pass.

I was going to buy it anyway, so score!

Nooooooooo!

Valve is again tinkering with the drop system:

Today we’re shipping some significant changes to the item drop system.

* Previously, we rolled randomly at intervals to see if you got an item drop. Now we roll to determine when your next item drop will occur. So you're guaranteed to find items at fairly regular intervals. The bulk of drop complaints we've received in the past have been from players having unlucky streaks, where they didn't find any items for weeks. That won't be possible now.
* We've significantly increased the rate at which item drops occur, compared to the previous average interval.
* There's now a maximum amount of playtime per week in which you get item drops. Playing beyond that amount won't find any more items. The amount varies, but if you play an hour or so a day you're good. Some of your unused time will rollover to the following week, so if you're an intermittent player you'll also be fine.

You know, I really like their idea of rewarding players with new items as they play, but the implementation has been fucking horrible ever since they added it.

I disagree with the part where they say the current system isn’t perfect. It is so.

I really, really wish they’d get Steam for Mac going.

You bet - my macbook is feeling lonely.
