They are working on it, at least. But you have to admit, it’s a pretty big project.

It’s a massive project. But they did say April!

Did it say April 2010?

Ah-ha… I see what they did there. Very sneaky, Valve, very sneaky.

That said, they are planning a simultaneous release for Portal 2, and that’s later this year, so we can safely infer they meant this April.

Nonetheless…

It works okay in Crossover Games. You could probably just grab the trial and use that until the proper port is out.

I heard someone in game say something about a video being hidden on teamfortress.com after today’s update. I checked youtube and came across this.

A real Engineer update, well it’s about time!!!

-Tim

It’s nice to hear it’s coming along, it must have been one of the absolute hardest ones to figure out. Engineers are a class with a really delicate balance and maps have been built around them I’d even say. I can only imagine what a challenge and how many things they’ve playtested.

So he’s getting… some kind of bionic arm?

Well, it’s not that hidden. It’s the link at the very bottom of the page.

So they added the link to the previous blog post. Sneaky, Valve. Sneaky.

There certainly is hidden stuff, though. Nullus dramatis, mate!

That’s from way back when they introduced bots though.

Is it? Nuts. Can I still point out the robotic heavy head in the video’s foreground to pretend that there’s a connection?

Welder and hammer are clearly going to be two unlockable replacements for the wrench. Which suggests some change to repairing/upgrading.

Robot bits in the background - hinting that the engineer will be able to upgrade his teammates instead of his buildings?

“It’s YOUR turn” could well be referring to the player/teammates. Implication being he’s creating…well, something to attach to them. Armor, maybe? Aim assistance? Some kind of class-specific buff?

Also, mobile sentry guns (aka, robots), perhaps? That would be rather incredible if you could put a sentry gun on a patrol route. Learn its timing and sneak by it of course, but the ability to cover more space would be a great trade-off.

I’m hoping for a camera that spawns flying rotor turrets, like in Bioshock.

Heh, I got the primeval warrior badge. I didn’t remember being on the beta or anything. All I remember is that Steam would not start for almost a month at about that time.

So according to the wiki, 1 slot token + 1 class token + scrap metal = 1 class weapon for said slot. I have a demo man token and a melee token and plenty of scrap, yet it says that no matching blueprints were found. I want the Eyelander, damnit!

Maybe you need a reclaimed metal for that. I’m just guessing though. A scrap seems a little low quantity wise for Valve.
