More Payload! Now I’m torn between wanting to try these two new maps and waiting out the inevitable engineer achievement horde. I think Spy is still my least played class, so maybe it’s a good opportunity for practice.

I think the new payload maps look great. I just hope they build some good communities. Currently, the only payload map I tend to play predominantly is badwater. For instance, hoodoo never appealed to me.

Also, day three it looks like the Engy gets a moveable turrent?

Mobile Sentries!

Yey for hidden links.

Hmmm would the trade off be only allowing the turret to be upgraded to level 2?

That’s what it looks like to me. Which is a fair enough trade off too.

A.k.a., Spy bait.

Looks like more to it than that.

http://www.teamfortress.com/engineerupdate/evolutionaryman/, combined with the wrench at the bottom, one designed by a fellow named Watchmaker. Will it just be a new model, or is this a new hidden craftable? Wrench plus…well, I don’t know. Reclaimed metal? Wrench plus something equals spikes, which I’m guessing do bonus melee damage but slows repairs, if it’s more than a model.

PC Gamer found these test animations from the TF2 community. Would be amazing if they made it into an official release:

Mobile Sentries, if they can be built during setup, would mean that multiple ubered snipers will become the tool of choice to sweep out the immediate payload starting areas of defense followed by 4 engys trotting out out their toolkit killing machines.

I’ll love it when the plans come together.

I don’t see that working out too well, since the sentries will probably take a few seconds to setup and the entrance to the payload maps is usually spam central.

So far the new engineer weapons look like pure upgrades though. Crit shotgun is pretty deadly, and the regular pistol is mostly useless.

There are no useless weapons, only useless players.

It may just be the ability of move sentries with the wrench (or new wrench) and probably a metal cost per pick up.

If so, it’d definitely make roving defensive zones a lot easier to manage.

Mobile sentries could actually be a nice benefit for beginning engineer players. They could play around with placement without needing to completely re-build the sentry. That depends on the movement or durability costs though (I’d assume the port-sentry has less hitpoints, or is capped at level 2, etc).

Robo-glove!

Nonsense, I have enough vitrol to indict players and weapons.

I was talking about you!

Pish posh, I have a goodly number of head ornaments and shiny medals to prove my worth. Every time I hit someone an angel earns his wings.

And the 100th wrench has dropped, along with another batch of update news including a pistol-replacement gauntlet with all sorts of perks, like being able to drop quick-building mini-sentry guns (for offensive support and backfield harassment).

Apparently not capped to level 2.

If You Build It, They Will Die
Haul a level 3 sentry gun into a position that achieves a kill shortly after being redeployed.

Looks like it’s dropped according to the Team Fortress blog. Can anyone confirm? Going home and playing TF2 tonight!

EDIT: And the steampowered.com website is saying Counter-Strike and TF2 were updated as of 5:06 PM.
