I actually dig Pipeline a lot, at least stages 1 and 2. Both have upper pathways that, if you can get the drop on the enemy and they’re not looking, results in you just murderizing 6 or 7 people before they even realize what’s happening.
The more recent one, Hightower or something like that, I can’t stand at all.
I agree with sluggo’s snub of Pipeline 3, though: I don’t know if it’s too open, or if the ramps are too long, or what, but I usually can’t wait to be done with that map.
I really like Hightower, except when it gets in a nasty stalemate with 4 sentries guarding the cart ramp, and not enough of your people go demo.
I love regular payload maps, but if payload race was the first map type I played when I got TF2, I’m not sure how long I would have waited before I played again.
Pipeline 3 is a novelty map to me. It’s one big room with two short ramps to get the cart up. Which doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have its own charms and strategies, but it always feels anticlimactic to me.
The TF2 team is working on something brand new for 2012. We can’t tell you what it is, because they won’t tell us, but what they WILL say is that it isn’t a hat, it isn’t a map, and go away. From this we can only conclude that the TF2 team is working on some ungodly hat-map hybrid that you can wear on your head while you run around in it. You heard it here first. Also last, because they just told us it’s not that either. But it’s
really cool.
I feel like this is going to be a big one, people are talking about this possibly being a new class, which is far fetched but fun to speculate about I suppose
Day One of Pyromania reveals Doomsday, a new map with a brand new game mode that lets you relive one of the darkest days in TF history. It’s all pretty heartwrenching, until you discover you’ll get achievements, which are also detailed in today’s update.
Keep your eyes open, folks. We’ll be announcing a bunch of new stuff this week, right up until the premiere of Meet the Pyro this Wednesday.
