Actually, if you have about ten like-minded people you can easily get almost all the achievements fairly quickly on a very small, custom control point map with instant respawn.

The only potentially difficult ones would be Chief of Staff and Do No Harm, and neither seem particularly hard to get if you play a healbot medic regularly.

I’m personally looking forward to the new achievements and cant wait to hear about all the other classes.

Hopefully the updates will be coming out fairly regularly. I have a feeling that the pyro updates will be fearsome.

The delightful remembrance of the smell of sizzling flesh fills my nostrils.

Ah, I LOVE playing pyros. I’ve even been known to cackle “Burn, burn, everybody burn!” into the mike. That and the demo man. There’s something about large scale swaths of virtual destruction that make me happy :). None of this careful aiming crap for me!

That most painful thing for me is I play on the XBOX 360, which doesn’t get any of the cool new stuff :(

Drunken pyro kamikaze rushes FTW. The other team letting you do it repeatedly (“what, ANOTHER pyro coming up the tunnel? ZOMG!”) == priceless.

Haha, I’m the exact opposite. I can’t deal with face to face action very well, it is easy for me to lose track of the person I am trying to kill.

By far, my best class is sniper. It’s so much fun lining up headshots on dustbowl (cap 3 especially). I think my counter-strike training works well in this game.

Makes me wonder how they are going to treat the sniper achievements. Honestly, all we do is snipe people from afar. How many variations of kill xx amount of people in one life can there be? Machete achievements will be slightly annoying, but if I can sneak up on people I’ve been known to machete 4/5 people in a row on Gravelpit or Well.

Auto machine gun kills will likely piss me off.

They owe us (360 players) , it was useless for months due to that crap-ass netcode (or whatever technical reason it was a soul killing lag fest). You hear me Valve? YOU OWE US!

You console bastards got exactly what you deserved. :)

ENJOY YOUR OVERPRICED BOX of DOOM! You Elitist BOTARD!

No. I know, the 360 isn’t the best platform for TF2, but its what I have and Valve sold it to me on the 360, I just want them to share some love.

Regarding gamers during these economically troubled times:

“it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to consoles or handhelds or antipathy to people who don’t game on the same platform as them or anti-RPG sentiment or anti-strategy game sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

I think Valve would happily share, but it’s practical to save this stuff up to get it all through MS in one shot.

Meanwhile, I bought TF2 for PC when they started selling it separately.

More tidbits:

We noticed in last night’s game that Valve is also tinkering with upgrades for the Engineering class. While it’s not concrete that these additions will go into the game’s next Medic-friendly update, Valve is nevertheless looking at adding upgrade options for the Engineer’s teleporter and dispenser. The former, when upgraded to Level 3, would reduce teleport recharge times from ten seconds to three. And a fully upgraded dispenser would heal all around it just slightly slower than a Medic

I would rather see an upgrade so the sentry gun isn’t almost completely useless.

Sentries are just about right, IMO. They’re good in spots where your team is defending around them, but easily destroyed by good demomen/ubered anything. As they should be.

It has become something of a speed-bump, hasn’t it? Oh well, a 3-sec teleporter is HUGE on offense. I would go so far as to say that it breaks the game somewhat, especially on low-respawn servers.

H.

I keep wanting a ‘radio-control’ remote for the sentry gun so I can send it forward at about half-heavy speed.

This is just your regular reminder that our weekly TF2 game is tonight, 10PM EST on the usual server. If you haven’t joined us before, just join the Qt3 group under steam, and then look under events for ip and password info.

Sadly, I’ll be travelling tonight, so I’ll miss out this week. Perhaps by next week we’ll have entered Crazy Ninja Medic Time!

They are easily destroyed by everything but the Pyro. Last night I saw two scouts fly into a intel room and kill a level 3 sentry with clubs.

I’m no prude, but is the talk on the server usually so explicit? I joined in last Friday and was pretty shocked – I can ignore offensive language, but… I dunno, I guess it just surprised me, given the level of discourse on the forum here.

Last week was a bit of an outlier. I quit a bit early because of it, it got distracting.
