That’s mostly the POE guys - the Qt3 folks tend to be more quiet, as you might expect. When the server (hosted by Severian of POE) switched to all talk a few weeks back, the noise level really increased. Sometimes the POE guys are really funny, and usually quite fun to play with, but it has been pretty noisy lately. Last week one of the POE guys started playing music clips and such. That didn’t exactly do it for me, either, though it was more the volume than the language. I think opinion here has been somewhat divided, however.
Malphigian has offered to set up a server - maybe we should give it a go some Friday?
I can’t remember it being especially explicit last week, but maybe that’s because it always is. It’s pretty much endless variation of smack talk, profanity, and a weekly riff on the N word. Sometimes they talk about Zimbabwe, Mugabe and African religion, though, so there’s good with the bad.

A scout can solo kill a sentry by pistol sniping, but I’m going to have to call bullshit on this one.
It was two scouts at the same time.

Was the sentry facing a corner or something? A level 3 sentry at close range will kill a scout in about 1-2 seconds and has knockback.
I’d be happy to fire it up, it’s all configured and I believe should preform fine.

How many QT3 members would actually show up though? There are really only a handful of us compared to POE yah?
I’m fine with a QT3 only server if we can get a decent number of people. Like 7/8 per side.
Well, the idea is we just leave it open and let pubbies fill out the rest. I can give the rcon password to a few of us, so we can boot anyone who is being difficult.
I can handle POE chatter, but it does get pretty annoying.
I heard it was 'cause Gates plays on a 360 and doesn’t want Pyros nerfed.
I’m not seeing the server . . . I don’t have any filters on . . . is it up?

I really don’t like what Valve is doing with this game. I always thought, and Robin Walker’s interviews pre-release seemed to say the same thing, that the essence of TF was the tight interactions between the classes, and TF2 captured that essence far better than his previous games. So all of the sudden adding tons of different unlocks (which cause untold numbers of interactions) and rolling them out like an MMO class by class fits in with this how exactly? Not to mention tying it to an achievement system…
Valve does indeed have this odd tendency to fiddle with their games and overthink them. For example that ridiculous dynamic weapon pricing in CounterStrike. I guess that’s what happens when you have the luxury of not releasing products that often.
Oh well.
The POE chat kind of assaults my brain, so I quit.
Meet the scout is out. Probably the weakest one.
Yah, I think I may have decided it’s unbearable.
You guys want to try my server next week? I’ll test it out during the week and make sure it’s all up and running.

Won’t show up until you restart steam. Started to automatically load once I did that.
Yea, not as good as the others. Too much time spent on set up and not enough on the funny. I enjoyed the part directly after “Meet the Scout” title screen passed.
I think this sounds like a good idea.

After such a long time, a new character video: The Scout.
If it’s not showing up in steam, restart Steam, and then put steam://run/5032 into your browser’s address bar.
Or don’t, because it’s not very good at all.
The fight with the Heavy is beautifully done, but the monologue didn’t do much for me - it was a bit meandering, never quite got to the joke.
Shame. I was as excited about this one as most people are about the Pyro - the Scout just about beats him/her out for my favourite personality. “I broke your stupid crap, moron!” is probably the greatest line of game dialogue ever written.
So far my all-time top five Meet The Team movies are:
- Engie
- Soldier
- Heavy
- Scout
- Demoman
