The Top Ten Games Of 2022 (so far) ...

Remember when Tom would make a mid year list of his top 10 games?

RiqxKXrh

So apparently Tom this year has not played 10 newly released games. And I did some maths, there has been like a half billion games released in 2022, so how is that even possible?

Proofs:

I’m afraid I haven’t played enough of this year’s games. 2022 has basically been the year of comfort food for me: mostly of olden times games like Old World, Back 4 Blood, and Zombie Army 4. Things that wouldn’t be allowed on this year’s list. :(

@tomchick here living like its 2021 and the future hasn’t yet arrived. :P

So this year, LordKosc in unofficial association with CSGO (plz vote 4 mai teamz).

Presents… The Top Ten Games Of 2022 (so far) thread, where everyone can also talk about not having played 10 games released in the 2022 year so far, and make lists of what they have played and enjoyed so far. :)

My top 10 games of 2022 so far, even if I didn’t play them… I do have them backlogged (gamepass also) and or have watched streams of them being played and that counts!

  1. WH 40k: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters
  2. Sniper Elite 5
  3. Dying Light 2
  4. Tunic
  5. King Arthur: Knight’s Tale
  6. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
  7. Far: Changing Tides
  8. Weird West
  9. Stacklands
  10. Elden Ring

Lets see what everyone else has enjoyed so far that was released this year. :)

Wow, that’s a surprise list.

Why sniper elite 5 and chaos gate as #1 and #2?

Does this list need to be for games released this year? I’m guessing yes)

Haha, ok answer my other question or the one armed man is coming for you!

Ah my top 3 are just the games I paid full price for, so they win the top spots. :P

I am pleased the links were clicked. :)

I didn’t need to click the links, because I understood that reference!

Is your list backwards? You accidentally put Elden ring at number 10. :-)

I only watched @Jason_McMaster die in Elden Ring , which allowed it to earn the 10th spot. Due to indirect enjoyment on my part. :)

I have played very few 2022 releases, so take this with a boulder of salt. Some of these I’ve only played once or twice, and in many cases this is based on “would I like to play it more”:

  1. Sniper Elite 5
  2. Eyelet
  3. Caper: Europe
  4. Ark Nova (2021 in Europe, but the U.S. release was in 2022)
  5. Heading Forward
  6. Townsfolk Tussle
  7. WH 40k: Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters: More Colons

Hmm… Have I played ten games released this year?

  1. Elden Ring
  2. Marvel Snap
  3. Hardspace: Shipbreaker
  4. Monster Hunter: Rise
  5. Vampire Survivors
  6. Lost Ark
  7. Stacklands
  8. Rogue Tower
  9. Multiversus

The order is a swag, don’t hold me to any of it.

I’m very bad at this: 6 months in, and I’ve no idea what I played that was released this year.
So many remakes/remixes/rethings make it even more confusing.

  1. Elden Ring. Predicting this will be no. 1 in 6 months time.

  2. Total Warhammer 3. Played one campaign which was actually pretty good. But waiting for IE to drop next month.

  3. Gran Turismo 7. The best GT game to date.

  4. Distant Worlds 2. This is really good, but tbh I have been waiting for some patches.

  5. Campaign Series: Vietnam. As creaky as the old engine is, this is really good.

  6. Dying Light 2. Managed to play this before Elden Ring came out.

  7. Arma: Reforger. As barebones as this is, its so nice to play in an updated engine.

  8. WEGO World War 2: Stalingrad. More wego games the better.

  9. Strategic Command: The Civil War. Only just came out and have played a little.

  10. Warno. I hope I don’t get thrown in early access gaol for mentioning this.

  1. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
  2. Elden Ring
  3. Monster Hunter: Rise
  4. Sifu
  5. Salt and Sacrifice
  6. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge

MH: Rise has a chance to go up a spot because I’m not done playing it. Same with Stranger of Paradise, and yes I know it’s already at the top of the list.

  1. The Planet Crafter

Well I guess it’s still Early Access, so maybe it doesn’t count. I really enjoy it and can’t wait to see where the developers take it.

I’m sure Sniper Elite 5 and Dying Light 2 will make my list, once I find the time to play and finish them.

This is more a list of the games I purchased & played in 2022 (first Six in my list):

  1. King Arthur Knight’s Tale
  2. Gordian Quest
  3. Symphony of War the Nephilim Saga
  4. Mech Armada
  5. Hero Realms
  6. Telepath Tactics Liberated
  7. Sifu (I love all the old Martial Arts movies; it looks very cool)
  8. Elden Ring (probably never play but i really enjoy the CarbotAnimations on the game)
  9. WH 40k: Chaos Gate (will probably play, maybe)
  10. 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim (Will get this eventually since it came to the Switch this year)
  1. Ironsworn: Starforged - Yes, a tabletop RPG.
  2. The One Ring 2E - Yes, another tabletop RPG.
  3. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
  4. Hardspace: Shipbreaker
  5. Sniper Elite 5
  6. Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe
  7. Dying Light 2
  8. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  9. V Rising
  10. Chex Quest HD
  1. Elden Ring

Okay, it’s the only 2022 release I have played.

I went to look at my Recent list in GOG Galaxy and it’s completely swamped with the million things I just wanted to check out via XCloud, so I’ve no idea what I played this year.

From other people’s lists I remember…

  1. Sniper 5
  2. Dying Light 2.

I can do my top 5! (I played 7 games from this year.)

  1. Strange Horticulture
  2. Tunic
  3. Citizen Sleeper
  4. FAR: Changing Tides
  5. Stacklands

Honorable Mention: Against the Storm – still in early access

  1. Elden Ring - 150 or so hours can’t be wrong, even though I never beat the final boss
  2. Horizon: Forbidden West - best open world franchise. Just a blast to play and so so gorgeous.
  3. Strange Horticulture - Short, but compelling from start to finish.
  4. A=B - I love little programming games and this one is pretty clever.
  5. Patrick’s Parabox - really clever sokoban-like
  6. Far: Changing Tides - played with my son. Gorgeous and melancholy.

Like what I’ve played, but haven’t played enough to judge :

  • Weird West
  • Citizen Sleeper
  • Hardspace: Shipbreaker
  • Last Call BBS

I have only played 2 games released this year so far, though I have many others on tap.

  1. Elden Ring
  2. Crusader Kings 3 Royal Court

hope to play soon:

  1. Strange Horticulture
  2. Horizon Forbidden West
  3. Warhammer 3

What have I really been playing for the past month?

  • Two-Point Hospital LOL
