Featuring Steve Rogers as Captain Cosmos!

OH WHAT A FEELING!

I thought some of you might enjoy this Twitter thread by a Canadian Infantry Officer (for future reference is there a good non-P&R thread for posts about military issues?)

Good stuff. All war discussion is in the end political though, I would say. Having been part of far too many historical discussions about warfare, all of which eventually spiral into political territory, I don’t think think it is feasible to have a non P&R discussion of warfare in any era, or on any topic.

Unless in perhaps a purely technical discussion of game mechanics pertaining to wargaming… yeah you’re right. War and everything adjacent to it belongs here in P&R.

For is not war the continuation of politics with other means (or are not politics a highly civil form of warfare)?

Rivet counters in wargames are not exempt, yeah…start talking about Sherman transmissions and the next thing you know you’re in a discussion about the SS as camp guards or something.

So how long before a story comes out about former US pilots helping the PLA as well?

WTF were these Brits thinking, besides phat balance in the bank account?

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what are you commenting in response to? It sounds like some major news dropped about collaboration with the Russians or something, but I’m not seeing anything upthread.

Ex-RAF pilots have been training the Chinese

Well, seriously, WTF. Thanks for the link. Bloody idiots.

£££££ duh.

The infamous Official Secrets Act seems like pretty easy fix.

Dear former RAF officer, just a reminder that all of those tactics, and maneuvers you were taught in training are now an official secret. Train some other pilot in them and MI-4 and Scotland Yard, will be buggering your butt, unless you get approval for a country like Ukraine.

That’s basically what they’re doing.

More details here, though it’s paywalled:

I don’t read the WSJ or the Heritage Foundation, but this must have been some amazing analysis.

The US military is weak, my friends. WEAK!

The air force is VERY WEAK!

Fortunately we are STRONGLY nuclear. Maybe the jarheads can carry the warheads to the target.

They assessed the USAF solely on air-air missile quality :)
