Apparently. Nope, never heard of it either.

I trust that it is true though.

Well, they give specific data like the name of that new character from the new gameplay section, I can only suppose its true.

I lost 50 minutes of gaming time tonight dying to that stupid kayran boss battle about 15 times in a row. I’m buffing myself with mongoose, +vitality, and +damage potions, and I’m casting electric shield spell whenever I’m not luring the tentacles into my orange trap spell. A few times, I managed to get to the second form of the boss where he chucks rocks at me until I…I don’t know what. I can’t get to the weak spot at his left rear without getting caught in a tentacle-rock death loop. This boss battle is sapping my energy to play this wonderful RPG. Can anyone give me some vague advice for how to get past this garbage?

That’s a boss fight that is less about skill… and even also less about potion preparation, than just learning what sequence of actions is the correct one in each phase of the boss battle. Look at some youtube video of the fight to know what is the next “step”, I can’t remember right now the specifics.

Yeah that was a painful part.

Minor spoiler…

To end it you need to run onto and up a long, sloping piece of ruined bridge and a cutscene will trigger. For the first part I remember keeping moving and rolling a lot. For the second there is at least one place where you can shelter behind rocks while you work out what’s going on.

But everyone hated that part. The patch was supposed to improve it somehow.

The Kayran was a mess, as I described in an earlier post. But once you figure the damn thing out, you can’t help to look at it without thinking “well, d’uh, that’s so fucking easy, why the heck did I took so long to get past it? I can do this in my sleep now”.

I got fed up with it playing in the new Dark Mode, since that meant one hit and you were dead. Two, I think, with Quen but since the first one knocked you down and you had to recharge before you could cast it again, that second hit was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Anyway, I got annoyed with it and didn’t want to waste my time so I just god-moded it with a mod that super-buffed quen. From The Witcher Nexus I believe.

…why play it in Dark mode, if you don’t want the game being so difficult?
Do you know that Dark mode is the equivalent of “very hard”, in a game which is already a bit hard in Normal difficulty?

Because I wanted to try it? I already played the game once on normal. What I wanted was a harder mode where the enemies were tougher so I could have some more fun in combat, and I wanted to see the new Dark Mode goodies. Like Tim James talked about a few pages back, what I got instead was a mode where enemies were the same toughness and Geralt was tissue paper, so I never used anything but quen quen quen. And the Dark Mode items were overpriced and not worth the playthrough. I would absolutely recommend against playing on Dark Mode, but not because it’s “so difficult”–it’s poorly-designed difficult.

The Kayran fight is stupid no matter what the difficulty level.

I wish the Kayran was more chopping and dodging (skill) and less QTE, too.
Oh well.

As for Dark Mode, consider it like DMD/HOH in DMC.

Turn off the hard QTE and the game is much more enjoyable as well.

Plus, ignore the damn dice game. Seriously, CD Projekt? Symbols instead of numbers? No secondary rolls? Rolling dice should not be subject to the whims of spotty physics and have such a high chance of rolling off the board. The presentation and non-physics screwed version of the game in the first Witcher was better.

Yeah the lack of secondary rounds like proper poker ruined it. I could get over the rest (especially after seeing the AI rolling off the board and laughing my ass off).

That kind of pisses me off in a sense…

PC games should get the bonuses when getting a proper console ported over…although it hardly happens anymore it had in the past. Mainly due to PC’s ability to simply cater better graphics/controls/memory to do stuff with et cetera.

And now the CONSOLES are getting an enhanced version with more content/bejesusshazam?
Am I alone amongst the PC fans in getting kind of ticked over this?

Yes you are.

Do you think that perhaps the PC version will be getting the same in an update? Given CDProjects past history?

I was about to say something… but Two Sheds and Razgon already posted what I was writing!

Hi. I am lazy.
Yes, it crossed my mind that it will probably happen.
However, no one came through in posting such an official announcement yet in here.
So, I’m going to cop out and claim heresy. XD
