Tattoo removal I expect :)
I think I remember having both the swordsman and magic versions at the same time - you have enough points to spend. And by the end of the game, I was glad to be able to shortcut some combats with the group move.
I forgot the alchemy tree is also based on maximizing those mutagens. To me it sounded too much like going to a lower difficulty level by adjusting hit points. I’d rather have more tools to use during combat.
But preparation and using potions should be a lot of fun for people that like that kind of style. There aren’t a lot of games like that. I remember hearing the tech tree in Arcanum was similar. I guess it’s hard to do because you don’t always know what’s coming. There might be some mods out there that extend potion length.
There’s also the ‘expected combat is delayed by a cutscene so your potion wears off while the villain twiddles his moustache’ issue…
Yeah, it fills the same slot, but just much more effective. Broken really, as you it’s the fastest to setup, once it’s up you can charge it again before it wears off, and it has the most potent effect. The basic problem is that it super charges your Vigor regeneration (which still occurs at normal speed!), and Vigor is what you use to keep it going…
Not to mention that casting Igni is already more powerful than everything else (assuming you really push your magic damage) even without Heliotrope.

Finally downloaded my Steam XMas sale purchase of this and started playing. So I do the tutorial, whatever. Then I start a new game. WFT? Now I have to do the tutorial again? Am I missing something?
Tutorial should be totally separate I believe. The original version didn’t have a separate tutorial (just the various text prompts during the opening siege) so the separate tutorial you get to from the main menu was added in the September patch.
what do you mean by tutorial?
the “wake up in camp near Tris” one or the “real” tutorial with the knight and teaching you the basics etc?
The 1st one is part of the game and not skipable (and not really a tutorial, more an introduction to the story which you can rush through reasonably quickly) the other one should definitely be skipable.

On the version I have there is a tutorial option. So I played that - its the one with the knight. Then I started a new game and was thrown into the same thing, with tutorial hints popping up and everything.
Yep, same thing happened to me. Steam version.
There should be an option somewhere to skip this tutorial. Did you try escape/going back to main menu
Sorry, haven’t game available right now so cannot provide the exact step(s)
Also, you should really wait until the 15th of April when a massive update (for free) will be introduced!
I suppose because the did the tutorial after the release of the game, they put the option to play it from the main menu, apart from the start of the story.

I got it figured out. For some reason the “skip tutorial” option didn’t pop up when I chose to import a save from Witcher 1. That option showed up when I chose the default settings, then when I went back then it showed up under the import path as well.

CD Projekt just announced existing owners will be able to pre-download the Enhanced Edition on April 11.
They also announced a Witcher 1 mac version.

Interesting! Looks like they give up the fancy lighting, but everything else looked great!
It looks like a very decent version on console, indeed. Not bad taking in account they did the game first on pc, scaling back while maintaining the artistic integrity and having a good framerate is hard. And this is their first console job.
And wherever you bought the game, you get GOG version for free.
GOGWorks, basically.
