I keep forgetting about the console release. I’m eager to see how it’s received.
And I am eager to receive it. So much so that I am trying to give the original game another shot, but I’m getting bored in the middle of chapter 2 again. I can’t play this game through by focusing on it exclusively. It just doesn’t flow. I’ll break it up with some Gemini Rue and yet another Psychonauts playthrough. That should do the trick.
Chapter 2 of witcher 1 is one of the best arcs done in a rpg ever.

Can’t wait to get to do another playthrough! I on purpose delayed my second playthrough for this. And yeah, TT - I agree completely.
I agree, except for the whole “boring as hell” part. I love wandering from house to house talking to people like a medieval Avon lady. And that swamp! Hell yeah!
Argh! Between this and Grimlock, I’m going to be drowning in badass RPG goodness!
Will the new big 10GB patch will serve to update the initial 1.0 version of the game or do we have to download the previous patches until reach the 2.0 version?

Will my TW2 on steam qualify for the free EE version.
Is their any patch notes on whats improved changed?
All PC versions of The Witcher 2 gets the free upgrade to the newest version.
A TON of stuff has been added.
Check a couple pages back. There are some minor spoilers in the changelog.

Thanks missed those, looking impressive!
Also for you Steamers, they fixed the Steam overlay–whatever that means. All I know is that it was the most commonly-asked for fix I’ve seen, and they confirmed that yesterday.
One drawback: don’t think there’s a Steam pre-load like GOG.com and retail customers got. So…Tuesday you get to download 12gb of Witcher Enhancement.
Finally: regardless of which version you bought of Witcher 2, let’s just repeat that anyone with a registered copy will get a free additional GOG digital download copy next week.
Hmm, does anyone know if Amazon digital copies get to preload?
To answer my own question, yes. I fired up the launcher and it had a link that took me to the Witcher 2 Enhanced Ed. website. I had to hunt around a bit but I found the link to the predownloader.

I’d like to complete my playthrough of the base game before downloading the enhanced edition. Do you know if I’ll be able to decline the update until my current game is finished?

Enhanced edition preloaded in less than a couple of hours. The joys of a 50 Mb connection.
Aha, I don’t have problems like this, since I bought the Witcher 2 but have never played it yet! My brilliant plan is paying off!
What does the enhanced edition actually add? I spent about three minutes on their site (about 2m 45s too long) and I couldn’t find it.
Nothing you want. How dare they give away free stuff, those fuckers.
New intro
Extended epilogue
New area in Act 3 with new quests, characters, etc
Apart from the new stuff from the previous DLC and previous 2.0 update.
Realize that most of the promo work CDPR and their folks are doing is arranged around the upcoming 360 version of the game, and that’s the focus of most of what they’re doing. The goodies for PC folks are the kind of value-added coolness that these guys do for their users for free that separates them from everyone else as developers.
So yes, if you can’t be bothered to scroll down on the first page you go to when you go to www.thewitcher.com, you won’t see the huge changelog coming with the patch.
–two new quests integrated into the story, I gather that both quests now take place in Chapter 3. They add 4 or 5 hours to the gameplay.
–35 minutes of new cutscenes. One piece of feedback they got off the initial release was that the convoluted nature of the story could be a bit daunting, so the new cutscenes and CGI were designed to give some exposition to the story and background
–new characters
–a bunch of bug fixes and balance tweaks. For Steam users, the Steam Overlay Bug (whatever that is; I don’t have the Steam version but there seem to be a bunch of complaints about it) is fixed. Quen is nerfed. Pages and pages of other stuff.
