I don’t think I got my equipment back. I was hoping it would be in a big gold chest with an arrow on it saying “here it is!”, but I must have missed it since I’m already on the boat.

I missed it too. Speaking of which, I hate the highlighting you get from the Z key. It takes time to go into effect (I often have to press it twice to get it to register) and only works in a narrow area. The smoky orange highlight is hard to see sometimes. Other times it clutters up the screen. It often registers on things you can’t open anyway, like locked doors.

If you’re going to put a shitload of crates into your game like a late 90s RPG, at least make it quick and painless to find them all.

If you are talking about the first town after the boat then yes, I got a secondary quest (no shiled icon in the journal) for each of them. I think.

Yes, I agree. It has to do with the general “responsiveness” issue. Often the game wants you to stop completely and wait for the running animation to finish before it allows you to do certain things. It applies to the Z key as well as (more frustrating) to casting signs. Thus you have to press the button twice. I hope they improve it in a patch, you should be able to do these things on the run.

As for the moster info question, I haven’t got any monster info yet but judging by the way you describe how you do it (meditation - character - abilities), you should be able to do the same without going into meditation by using the C key to open the Character screen.

Stop searching the stupid ass crates.

Designers who put searchable crates and barrels in their games, and then stuff 99% of them full of stupid shit you don’t need but still leave 1% having shit that you do need, should be shot or burned alive or both.

I can stop anytime I want to.

I don’t mind poking around in crates so much, I just wish that I could quickly collect all from crates via a hotkey instead of spam clicking all the time. I feel like I’m playing Diablo II at times.

I thought I heard they were balancing combat right up until release. It sounds like they ran out of time. I wouldn’t accuse them of “rushing it out too early” but there are clearly some things they want to work on. Hopefully combat responsiveness is one of them, even if they don’t make it a brawler.

Yeah it moves the mouse cursor around in a way I haven’t figured out yet. Is there a hotkey to Take All once the dialog box pops up?

Spacebar for Take All.

But what if I need rags later? Or 200 cloth?

I spent all of my playtime yesterday running around town, looting houses, and selling their brooms and shovels back to them. I’d really like to leave town and fight some stuff, but it’s hard not to search every house and loot every crate.

I had the same problem with my similar set up - I had the pass on the review for PCG because there seemed to be no resolution. The only thing that worked was playing it in a window, as you’ve already discovered.

Same issue with the launcher buttons being on top of each other as well.

I don’t get it?

You know you can’t.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago – I will say that given the fact that the game is being released DRM-free on GOG, the anti-piracy hoops to get the game going pre-release were absurd.

Yeah they were.

how do you store your loot? In TW1 you could give it to the inn-keeper but I have seen nothing similar in TW2 so far?

Can you just drop it on the floor and come back to collect it later?

I disagree. It’s one thing to release a DRM-free game (when everyone can buy it) and completely different to have a DRM-free pre-release build (when only journalists and potentially pirates, hehe, have access to it).

As it’s been demonstrated just a few pages back, pirates having access to a game even a few hours earlier than the customers can induce major seizures for some people.

We should setup Looters Anonymous meetings, and work through our endemic kleptomania.

Hello, my name is Jasper. It’s been two weeks since I looted random crates and households that I knew belonged to upstanding citizens. Well, except for one shack outside of town, but I don’t think anyone was living there, at least not right then.

I’ve been turning it on, fiddling with the settings, playing a bit of the original Witcher and turning it off. Tonight I think I’ll give up on actually transferring a save and just start playing it properly.

Incidentally does anyone know how far Tom has to go on his 10 ways that Dragon Age 2 is better than the Witcher 2 review?

Help!

  • How do I apply armour enhancements? This one is weird. Because I thought I had read (in the manual?) that all I had to do was drag it onto the armour. But I can’t seem to do that with a gamepad. I must be missing something obvious.
  • How do I use mutagens?
  • If I want to turn cloth into hardened cloth and I have the recipe, I need to find a craftsman to do it for me, right? Who would that be? Or am I supposed to do it myself?

The whole crafting / enhancement stuff confuses me.

Thanks.

Wendelius

I’ll trade you my answers for some help with how you are supposed to manage your inventory and loot stash! I tried leaving stuff on the ground but unsurprisingly it disappeared … If they have done what I think they have done, this is by far the most bone-headed decision so far. Really hoping I am wrong or somebody mods in a “loot chest” ASAP.

  • How do I use mutagens?
Go to the character screen (C with a keyboard), select one of the skills with a small circle next to it, you will see that you have the option to type “enter” to select which mutagen to insert. I do not know if you can remove/upgrade mutagens once inserted …

  • How do I apply armour enhancements
with keyboard you can double-click on the enhancement, albeit your armor needs to have a free slot for this to work

-If I want to turn cloth into hardened cloth and I have the recipe, I need to find a craftsman to do it for me, right? Who would that be?
Correct, you cannot craft things yourself and need to find somebody to do it for you. Look on your map, craftsmen are clearly indicated
