19 hours in and just hit chapter 2, what a hell of a game this is.

I find the whole diagram/blueprint system a bit wonky; it’s only fair that the game should warm you that you are about to buy a diagram for a potion/trap/whatever that you already have…

Like i said before, really wish there was a online list of the stuff each vendor has for sale.

The UI is really wonky is some areas, for example, the delay of recipe showing its components. On the other hand, there are also some genuine innovative designs, like the combat log. It looks nice and shows useful details, a very good compromise to the argument that floating damage number breaks the player’s immersion.

p.s. A mod that makes the tooltip bigger.

Yep, the game should warn you when you are about to buy a diagrama or a book you already have or already have read. In fact, in W1 the books have a mark like that in their descriptions. :/

Has anyone used arrow redirection? I’m trying to decide if I should take that so I can use one of the mutagens I have, or keep working on the sword tree.

I toyed with the idea of taking that talent for the sheer cool badass factor… but being honest, i don’t think there is a lot of archer enemies in the game, and you can close distance pretty fast, so it would be a bit of a wasted talent.

How the mutagen slots work? Are they random? I only have one, still.

I’d also love to hear what’s my fellow witchers choice of potions/oils, the ones you try to keep on you at all times.
I really like to use Golden Oriole + Rook + another depending on situation and various oils but since I’m still in Flotsam I have no idea what more goodies are coming my way.

Gah, encountered the sound problem reported by others this morning. No speech or ambient sounds in game, just footsteps and some other sound effects. Tried all the available fixes so far and nothing corrects the issue with my X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional card. Worked fine up until today. Not sure how much more time I’ll bother spending on troubleshooting before shelving the game and doing other things until it’s fixed.

I give up, i will use the weightless mod now. Without chest or inns to store stuff, and with all the stuff to you need to make bombs, traps, oils, potions, etc (and i am doing an alchemist run, so it’s not an option to not have any of that) it’s impossible to not reach the maximum weight in the moment you take the loot of a few enemies. And i already have the +50 to weight limit perk!

Huge oversight of the developers, imo.

Huge oversight especially considering they had to change TW1’s inventory to fix space issues for a similar reason (alchemy ingredients taking up too much space). Odd that they’d make it so difficult again.

I’m not to the point yet that it’s bothering me, although I reached maximum (250) a couple of times and had to ditch extra armour I had picked up to regain some weight. Even left crafting components behind with the expectation that I’ll come back later, perhaps. They should have made crafting/alchemy components weightless, had a separate section for unlimited carrying, or storage that can be accessed in multiple places.

I’ve managed it so far. I try to use the heavy stuff first to make potions, even though it’s tedious because the recipe resets. I keep a little iron for big ticket items, then use the rest (plus heavy lumber) for daggers. I usually sell most of my cloth and leather.

I think you’re right. Probably a wasted talent for now.

I think mutagen slots are in the final talents of the tree. The two in the first category, and someone said the last 3 in the sword category as well.

Everytime I am over encumbered I just drop some iron and I am good to go : )

I am nearing end of chapter 2…GOTY so far…

Well, until someone figures out a way to store stuff I’ll be using the “lower crafting items weight” mod. Also, remember seeing some mod that added an north indication to the minimap, as it is I keep having to open the map every minute or so.

Also, faster tooltips mod, pretty good.

I’ve run into one helluva bug. I’m in Flotsam, the kayran is dead, I go talk to Loredo, walk out of his compound, hit the barge with Triss, and at no point can I save, meditate, draw a weapon, cast a sign, nothing. I go into buildings, talk to people, go outside, and finally get attacked my different enemies and die. Geralt just stands there. Anyone else see this or know of a fix?

Dude make throwing knives. They’re great. I’d never sell or throw iron away.

Have you tried to save and then reload?

Also:

Holy god! fuck! but how the fuck… i mean… it’s just… i am in the 2nd Act and aghh it’s all so pretty! The beach and the cliffs, the forested areas, the beatiful sunset, the highly realistic clouds that move slowly, the subtle and rich color gradient in the sky, the faraway mountains tinted in light blue by the distance, the sun rays crossing the wooden fences and the rockwalls as i walk, the huge fullmoon shading everything. Damn.

I usually go with Swallow + Rook + Golden Oriole. unless I need Cat for a cave. Just got to Chapter 3 and there were no cool, different potions in Chapter 2.

I really wish there was an autosave before the Draug fight.

I don’t know how it is in Chapter 2, but Chapter 1 made me wish I could set the view distance even farther. It’s just a bit too much glow/mist. I wonder if there’s an ini setting. Then again, for some parts (like looking out of the town from the watchtower) they might not load enough of the level to see anything useful.

RPG threads drive me nuts. I hate being a thread Nazi and I haven’t seen any blatant spoilers, but I never understood why people can’t stop name dropping. We’re all playing the same game. It’s linear, we’ll get there. I know it’s hard to keep it all bottled up inside but try to survive.
