I haven’t gotten to the Draug yet so maybe the name is just a coincidence, but there is an actual creature in Scandinavian folklore called the Draug.
Thanks. I didn’t realize it was just one .dlc file sitting in that directory. I copied it over from my old PC. I just tried it and it works. The main quest is going to have to wait a bit!
I had to say the same to a friend with the same problem (the dlc wouldn’t download in his pc). Just search it on the net, copy to the game directory, and it’s ready. If the game is legally bought, i don’t see the problem.
I’m not sure what’s up but that is not the case for me. I can drop the dlc into my cookedpc folder in the directory and the folder 1 above and nothing is available in game. Maybe it needs a registry edited or inserted, the other dlc created registry additions in a dlc folder. But in any case I can’t get the troll dlc to work, and the launcher doesn’t detect it being there either.
Well, can’t get around that Loredo bug and it’s a complete game stopper. Probably going to have to start the game over, and if that’s the case I’ll wait a few months for patches. Wait for Projekt to add 16:10 support, iron out other bugs, maybe improve performance a bit, etc.
Have you tried the repack version which is floating around? What version do you have, GoG or Steam? I’ll send you a link via PM.
I just realized I no longer have my silver sword. I have a plan to make one but I think I need some silver ore. Can I buy this somewhere?
I’m waiting for my semester to finish before seriously playing this, but I’ve been playing and replaying one combat encounter in Flotsam just to see how well I can do in hard. I really like the new combat system.
It would be cool if someone made a mod that disables finishing moves, I like the challenge of having to go all the way through with normal attacks, and I don’t like losing control in my moment of triumph.
The nekker cave outside of Flotsam has silver ore inside. Not sure if any of the local merchants have it for sale though.

You don’t want to go into the Nekker cave without a silver sword. Talk to the local blacksmith, he should have some, his stock will refresh on every area load so if you need more you can leave town and come back.
Yeah, I bought some from the dwarf smith.
Yes that’s the one I tried, thanks for the link but same version. I got mine on Steam. I’d think that I’d have to install it to get it to work but the launcher doesn’t detect it as downloaded if I copy it in.
What registries do you have at software/CD Projekt Red/The Witcher 2/Downloads
I have 2 files named 62 and 63 while are the subtitles and language dlc.
The launcher not detecting it is of no consequence, AFAIK, even if you are offline and the files are correctly placed in the cookedpc folder then you should be able to have the troll dlc, my launcher doesn’t detect it either; have you actually checked in-game to see if it’s available? No need to pick up the quest either, just go to the bridge and there should be a guy there who gives you a quest.
Ah that might be the issue, I was going to the board and it was telling me that I still needed to download it.

Weird thing is the first time I went in there I got swarmed by a dozen. On a 2nd playthrough (I restarted before Chapter 1 finished so I save x in the prologue) only 2 at a time came out to greet me, with a total of 4-5.
How did you ever make it out of witcher school?
FWIW, it was on the board for me. Two notes, actually. One was the direction to go online to download it.

ahem I have it back now.
Not only that, Foltest actually looks like a late medieval/ early renaissance king. For that matter, so do nearly all the rest of the humans in the game - they all look like soldiers, peasants, merchants, etc. as you’d expect from those times. Even the period-accurate spectacles (which remind me of the specs worn by Sean Connery’s character William of Baskerville in the movie version of The Name of the Rose) on some of the characters! That is if you assume the period being the late Middle Ages; this is the first medieval fantasy game in a long time, maybe ever, that actually looks like the Middle Ages. This is a great step - a fully realized medieval setting is much richer than the just about everything fantasy artists have come up with in the past several decades.
I’m surprised that this game has actually been exceeding my expectations in most ways so far since I was so hyped for it. Easily GOTY so far for me. I know it’s got its hooks deep in me when I’m already thinking of various different choices to try on my second play through and I’m really not all that far yet.
