The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I didn’t know this mod existed. I should write it down for when some day I do a second run!

It’s incredible how the game looks now, taking in account it was originally released in 2015. What new tech + improved textures can do. Here are some screenshots I have seen from the web:
(do we all have fiber at this point right? not need for ‘56k warning’)

Sounds like a major next gen patch for PC is coming…soon-ish.

I’ve seen this version on PS5 and while the updated visuals look great, they look best in stills: the quality of the character animations hasn’t been improved, and so the character movements look outdated and not in keeping with the visuals.

That’s fair to say about the PS5 graphics. They’re a welcome update, but hardly current-gen. Good enough though, and I’m happy the game will be waiting for me with an update whenever I want to play it.

Which is kinda the whole thing for me. I don’t really want to play it again. At least not at the moment. I tried and just didn’t get very far.

It stands atop my list of favorite games, but two play-throughs might be more than enough. Some really good games have come out since that can’t help but make parts of Witcher 3’s world feel inferior, regardless of how good it was the first time through.

Or who knows. I could be playing it again in a year or two

Anecdotal of course, but on the Xbox Series X, today’s patch seems to have really boosted performance on graphics mode. I’m not getting any of the chugging, freezing or occasional crashes I was routinely experiencing prior to the patch. It all feels very smooth to me from several hours playing in several game environments.

Nice I will have to check it out when I get home. I decided to wait for them to patch it a bit before doing a full playthrough. I mean in performance mode it was totally fine, but I really wanted to play in RT mode if I could. We’ll see.

That may be the best headline I’ve ever read.

Probably a big sigh of relief that they didn’t accidentally include something that would get them cancelled!

The new conservative GI setting for RT is amazing, barely noticeable in image quality but the performance gains are massive, easily up to 70% more fps on my rig (from ~35 to ~55).

Oh I see that defaults to on? Just checked and it’s on for me and I don’t think I touched it. Thought I saw a perf boost :)

I don’t suppose they fixed RT shadows? They might be nice but they pop in at weird times, e.g. among trees, so I left those off.

I think so, I saw performance gain as soon as I loaded an older save.

In a statement to Eurogamer, a CD Projekt Red spokesperson said: "As was understood by CD Projekt Red until very recently, the vulva textures in question were a part of the ‘HD Monsters Reworked’ (HDMR) mod, not the ‘Vaginas for Everyone’ mod.

“We want to also add that the removal of these elements is not intended as a statement against nudity or mature themes, but rather an attempt to maintain visual coherence across all character models - including these textures in the game was not something we planned from the start.”

Really glad they cleared this up

Who are these people who have no problem with regular Witcher 3 nudity, but draw the line at the vulva? Seriously.

With context I don’t really get what the fuss is about here (in regards to their removal). The devs of the game included a bunch of mods. One of these mods included work that the developers do not consider appropriate for their vision for the next gen update, so they removed them. The only thing noteworthy here is that they missed them completely prior to releasing the update, as if they weren’t trying to zoom in the camera on female monsters crotch area when testing the game.

Does every female monster need an intentionally textured vulva? Does every male monster have a dangling or retracted penis when we hack them to pieces? It just doesn’t matter.

New patch out… can’t see any patch notes yet.
