Am I going to miss out on a lot by jumping directly into witcher 3 without playing 1 or 2? Sorry if this has been discussed before but there are nearly 2000 posts in this thread.

Now say who did the Killing Monsters trailer.

Pretty much…no.

Multiple reviewers have mentioned that this is a great place to jump in.

Some of the character interactions where players of the first two games are going to have their emotions played will likely be more effective because of familiarity with various characters…but not necessary.

If you’re worried about it, watch one of the story summaries on youtube. If you’re not, just jump in.

That might’ve been Platige.

Digic I know did the TV commercial for Wild Hunt, though.

Just watch the 2 part retrospective and you will be good to go!

Not really, the game is designed for the console versions where they know most people haven’t played any of the previous games, so it’s all explained in-game.

Platige as well.

Thanks QT3!!! I’ll definitely check out those videos lordkosc. As much as I want to eventually play 1 and 2 I just don’t see that happening anytime soon.

BTW, apparently we’re still getting a gameplay launch trailer before Monday at 7pm.

I don’t recommend the videos a lot. They try to summarize 85 hours of games in a few minutes, so they go “this happens and then that happened and this character said xx and this other killed xxx and…” which for someone who hasn’t played them (the actual target of the videos!) has to be confusing as hell.

It’s better a more basic summary. Check this thread.

I have been thinking about it, I would let her kill me. :D

That’s a good infographic, especially if you read it a couple times to absorb everything. Not much about individual characters but perhaps TW3 will explore that organically within the game. In other words, I suspect all the love triangles and such will be made clear by the story, but all the background organizations might run together. That’s where the infographic comes in.

Well, some predators try to look atractive to their prey. That’s the whole idea. ;)

And on that note, bruxas are among the most dangerous monsters in the Witcher world, and one of the short stories in The Last Wish is about Geralt facing one. In the video, Geralt was lucky that she didn’t use her screech, or things could have been way uglier. ;)

I’m trying to gather the strength to play through Witcher 2 before I play 3. (Got 3 with a video card). I suspect I’ll fail. I’ve started W2 multiple times and enjoy it, but have never made it to the end for some reason.

Waiting…

End of Act 2 into all of Act 3 was so good, SO GOOD, get to it!

Set it to easy, Quen sign 4 life.

Polygon review:

In our time with the game, we saw significant technical issues, including hard crashes, endless load screens, major framerate drops both at random and during more crowded fight scenes, and failures by the game to trigger even scripts which would halt forward progress within a quest until the game was reloaded, or, on occasion, the console restarted entirely.

History:

This is not our first game; we are not newbies,” he said. “It’s not like ‘hey we are delaying and we’ll keep on delaying’. If we would think we need more time we would say ‘hey we’ll release it not in Feb but, I don’t know, June’. We made the decision at the moment we were able to judge how much time we needed, and we planned it well and it works well for us. So, no more delays.”

Dear Gamers,
The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.
With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.
We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily.

CDP: “Gamers took our decision very well. This market is afraid of badly polished games on next-gen platforms.”

“There’s a lot of small errors though, because the game is huge. It’s the only reason behind the delay. We don’t want to release the game with bugs that undermine the gameplay.”

From GAF, apparently the CE boxes are BIG. That banana picture the other day did not give a good reference for box size. Anyone else get a CE?

For reference that man is 9 ft tall. ;)

Damn HRose, you have way to much time on your hands.

krayzkrok, your PM box is full. I’ve got the info I was going to send you.
