Ugh, I need to stop relying on Quen so much. Started running into monsters that require heavy use of other signs to beat and it’s a hassle to constantly switch when you’re playing on a pad.
Heh. I know. But for some reason I really did enjoy Triple Triad and FF8 at the time. But going back now I can see all the flaws of the game and couldn’t ever play it again.

I agree with Razgon, to be perfectly honest.

Its not important in the sense that this is just a game, and no children are (mostly) harmed by it. I just dislike it - its probably kinda like reading a synopsis of a book before reading the book, or not.
More like reading the index, the chapter list, or looking at how thick it is… :P
I hate how you have to open and close the magic menu with two button presses now. I prefer TW2 style where it was a temporary hold button. It felt like I could switch more quickly between spells.
Been playing a lot since release and I haven’t had a single crash. I’ve noticed that a lot of the crashing is happening for people with Nvidia cards. I’m running an old AMD 7970. But AMD drivers are shit. Amirite?

Overall, an excellent game so far.
Only complaints:
-
Movement when not in combat is crappy. In combat, it’s actually perfectly fine, which is good since that’d be much more of a problem if it weren’t. But out of combat, when you’re just walking around, a lack of fine control of movement ends up resulting in some really stupid things.

I’d kind of like to be able to just have the map on a single button press, instead of two, because I’m often looking at it while walking around.
Someone on reddit posted a .gif of the pro skater moves you can do.
They also mentioned turning on the hardware cursor option for more responsive PC mouse feel. You can also toggle walk with ctrl (or use the very narrow radius on a gamepad) to be a little more precise with looting things behind you.
According to reddit, you can upgrade your starting armor somewhere. I think I sold mine so hopefully it stays in the shopkeeper inventory. (Too heavy anyway.) The next light armor you get is so dumb looking.
There seems to be a respec potion somewhere.

Interesting comment about not taking Sun and Stars in order to enjoy using the food system more. Meh. Just seems like clutter to me.
I think I might load a save at the end of White Orchard to do some inventory management. He says there’s no stash option but you can just leave items on the ground. Maybe I’ll find a suitable place after the map transition.
I guess something clicked with me last night and I started killing stuff like crazy. I’m still on the one below the hardest difficulty, but I got the hang of the controls.
Also - main quest levels you up
Me too. It’s a little bit like Bloodborne. Staying aggressive and dodging behind enemies is usually better than trying to retreat and size them up. Within reason of course. Can’t get surrounded. I still die to packs of dogs and stuff, though I’m sure there are spells and bombs that could help there too.

Okay, this might be
a) only something I’m complaining about
or
b) a solution that’s common knowledge to everyone in the universe except yours truly
BUT
After struggling to read the tiny text in my inventory and other areas, I discovered that the PS4 now has a zoom function. You can enable it under Settings and Accessibility. Once you do, you can click the PS4 button and the square and the screen zooms in. You can’t make any choices while zoomed, but you can scroll around and read stuff.
Much better experience now for this old man!
Yeah, this is exactly right. You play this game more like Bloodborne than any of the earlier Witchers. The dodge move should be prioritized over the roll every time. If you time your dodge (not that hard to do, you have a HUGE window for most of them) you end up behind your enemy without taking damage. I’ve leveled up my heavy attacks, so I dodge behind, heavy swing once or twice (depending) and move again. They will attempt to turn towards you, don’t let them have you in their frontal arc for more than a second or you’ll get attacked.

Now THAT is a nice find - the text is incredibly small on my 40’ tv as well . I do hope they will do something from the developer side instead though, but until then, this is a nice find.
I love the monster-hunting and investigating. I know it’s not much better than the detective mode mechanic in the Arkham games, but I really like how the clues in this game seem more organic and logical.
I’m also impressed with how CDPR was able to create quests that fit together in sometimes not obvious ways. Like in one of the early quests, during the investigation, you uncover a bunch of character information that pays off much later in the game.
Geralt even sounds like Batman when he talks to himself for the sake of the player.
They have more room to work since the crime scenes can be anywhere, not just a little square.
