As far as I know shadowplay doesn’t work with fullscreen borderless which seems to be the default option in Witcher 3.

Thanks for the reply, but unless it was stealth switched back I think I was running in “OG” full screen mode just now. I’ll confirm later. Maybe I just need to reinstall the GFE.

In that case try using another bind combination, I couldn’t activate my MSI overlay when I had alt as part of the bind.

MSI overlay you say? As it turns out, I have an MSI branded 970.

It’s not related to the manufacturer of the card, you can use the application with all of them, I think it even supports amd.

I wondered about that quest as well

During the prologue I could not find anything else about Lena. I went back in Act/Chapter 1 and talked to herbalist and there was a dialogue option for Lena. She told me Nilf dudes took her away. So I went to their camp but I could not find anything more about her there. It was night time and I did not try very hard though.

The quest log write ups are great. Some of them are fucking hilarious. I recommend reading every quest’s description from the completed quests tab as you complete them. Some of the best writing in the game, much better than the books.

One atmosphere thing that bugs me a lot is just how often peasants talk shit to you. I am thinking they would give the white haired, cat eyed guy with two well worn swords and all manner of martial accessory strapped to his person riding a horse with a gaffed monster head hanging off of it, a wide berth. I make it a point to try and kill anyone who mouths off to me. Its great fun.

The loot in the game seems really fun, at least in the (incredibly) early game. I’m level 7 and I have found a couple of “Relic” items, including armor and swords but also a Relic potion, that are just excellent. The art design on these weapons is fabulous. Here is an example of one, no spoilers in terms of what this sword does (it’s amazing, let’s just say) nor where I found it (one of the funniest quests I’ve gone through in a game like this, or right up there) but instead just a shot of the Inventory model of Geralt drawing it and admiring it.

probably not really a spoiler

What is wrong with enemy AI in this game?

I’ve started to notice that enemies will seemingly randomly run back to where they came from in battle.

So i will be fighting something that just attacked me and then it will just randomly run away at full speed, exiting combat. It does not seem to be related to their health (ie something that is almost dead trying to escape). This is highly annoying.

I feel like i’m playing a MMORPG where if you step on a rock the ai will think it cant get to you and reset back to its spawn point.

Yeah, there are certain enemies that seem “tethered” to a spot. It’s like they’re the dog who’s tied to a peg in a yard. I only encounter it occasionally once you get out of White Orchard, but the enemies that guard their nests and places of power have that mechanic really bad.

Yes, the last few times this has happened it was on some enemies guarding a chest and then enemies around a nest.

I wasn’t even very far away though when they would reset and run back. I understand not wanting players to kite enemies and get what they are protecting, but it seems like they overdid it a bit.

Yuck, 2 hours in a dungeon with no light, crates every 5 feet, alternate paths I had to backtrack for, and then when I got out I decided to go sailing and found a hidden treasure quest underwater, so I had to fight with the swimming controls for 10 minutes. I’m dying for a break from the not-so-good game mechanics.

minor main quest spoiler

I do love sorceresses though!

Already starting to outlevel content. I have two main quests and one secondary quest recommended for level 6. I’m just about to hit level 7. Although given the last main quest, I wouldn’t mind being a bit higher level anyway.

You start out with a torch! Or did you sell it?

To take out my frustrations, I’m going to use it to light you on fire!

Another good news (maybe) for those not on 9xx but still Nvidia:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/833016/geforce-700-600-series/gtx-780-possible-fail-as-performance-in-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-/post/4537394/#4537394

They are saying they might have figured out why 7xx class videocards perform poorly with The Witcher.

Finally started this up after finishing Far Cry 4 and the differences nearly blew me away. Amazing so far.

I get 60fps@1200p on a 970 SLI setup with everything maxed but the occasional drop to 30 in cut scenes for some reason. Was disappointed I couldn’t do triple head by lowering the quality but the game is very heavily fill rate limited. Couldn’t hit stable 30fps unless I started dropping everything to medium or worse.

Hairworks on people is something I could easily do without, but the monsters looked great, at least the first griffin you see. Really liked the effect. Kept at 50-60fps so I will be leaving it on for now.

No wonder nvidia is giving the game away to people who buy new cards.

Heads up, if you’ve already crafted Moon Dust bomb the Enhanced version of it won’t be visible on the alchemy tab once you acquire the recipe. The only way to avoid this is to hold off with crafting until you can craft both at the same time.

Yeah, the AI could be better. First it’s the obvious tethering to their “zone”, but even forgiving that, sometimes they stand still in the middle of combat, like bugged, and won’t attack you. One time even attacking him wouldn’t “reactivate” him.

Haven’t seen much beyond the tethering myself, but I’m really amazed not to have run into more bugs yet. For a game of this insane scope I find it pretty incredible.

Reddit is reporting in that if you didn’t buy the Gwent cards from the Innkeeper before leaving White Orchard, they are no longer available when you go back.

:|

CDP is already aware of the problem, they will introduce a new merchant in White Orchard to fix the problem.
