Google is saying it can’t be done without 3rd party software.

Was worried this game would give me trouble, but it’s been running amazingly well. Mostly left the settings on default, but I upped a couple. Had a few random crashes and freezes, but not too bad. Looks gorgeous to me and haven’t noticed any slowdown or stuttering. One option I love is that you can select which display for the game to use. I have it so it automatically goes to my TV each time, beats having to swap displays before running the game.

So I have just transitioned from White Orchard and am finding it a tad more difficult. It seems a massive difference in some of the exploration stuff. The ? seem to be very high level and there seems no way to discover that without visting them and then finding out it’s a waste of time.
After meeting Hendricks I tried the 3 nearby questions marks and all were hidden treasure guarded by massively more powerful creatures so is it worth sticking with the main storyline for a bit. I am level 4.9 atm.
Well, I just did a search of the English-language manual and didn’t find the strings “screenshot” nor “screen shot” and I really don’t recall the game (up to now, anyway) teaching me how to take one (with the GOG version). Anyone care to share how they did it?
Now that I have played 18 hours. Its a good fact to know! :p
I am finally done with White Orchard, having gone back 4 times for shit I missed. Now I am in Velen and have done nothing but the burn corpses quest, lol. I might be done with the main story and side quests by the time the first Expansion comes out.
Yes you can! Hit PrintScreen on the keyboard, then ALT-TAB, open PAINT and Paste the image. :p
… you mean, like most video games?
edit: I’m corrected.
SweetFX setting that makes the game look more realistic (less painting like). Might use it for my 2nd play through later this year.

What level is stuff in/around Novigrad? I’d like to ride up there and poke around in the city itself a bit and then come back down to Velen and quest.

I was wondering if this was possible, thanks for posting directions. I use the keyboard so I just mapped ignite/extinguish to the C key and it works great.

You can totally do that. Beware though, you can get ambushed by bandits in side alleys.
Is it cheating if I launch the GOG version using Steam so that I can use the Steam overlay to take/upload screenshots? ;)

Is there any way to store stuff you want to stick around but don’t want to carry.
I had read suggestions that you could just drop it, but when I’ve done that it disappeared eventually.
No… sadly there is no storage chest in the game, hopefully the dev’s will add one in a future patch or a modder will once tools come out.
This is what I’m doing, since the GOG client also seems terrible about tracking hours played (using Steam as an overlay doesn’t allow Steam to track hours played either, but I see the game itself tracks that so I’ll go with that). Plus all of my friends are on Steam so this way they can see when I’m in-game as well I’ll see chat messages. F12 is a whole lot easier than PrintScreen, Alt-tab, that’s for sure.
For me it’s the other way around, the game glitched and added at least 12 extra hours to the time played in the stats page, while the Galaxy software is tracking the number of hours correctly.
I’m using the Galaxy-generated desktop shortcut, which invokes the Galaxy client, to launch the game via Steam. Galaxy isn’t registering the hours played but it is logging achievements.
Edit: My bad. I thought I had changed the parameters for the Steam shortcut (target/start in) to match the Galaxy desktop shortcut, but I was actually using the witcher3.exe and associated bin directory for Steam. I just tried to use the Galaxy shortcut parameters in Steam and the best I can do is get Steam to launch Galaxy with the default start page (the Galaxy shortcut is supposed to launch Galaxy and load the game page so that you can click “Play” to launch it). The good news is that when I then launch the game from Galaxy, it inherits the Steam overlay. I expect that this will allow Galaxy to track time played as well as allow me to take screenshots using Steam.
How did you get a Galaxy desktop shortcut? I didn’t see any option for that so I’ve been going through the app to run the game
I took down Geralt’s hair and shaved him. He’s looks terrible, now.

I went with ponytail and clean shaven, he looks 20 years younger!
Shaved sides with the ponytail seems the preferred haircut over on GAF / Reddit. I’ll do that once I finally get to a barber.
