Maybe we’re suppose to leave some for a different play through so there is actually new content to do. I’m usually a ‘one and done’ kinda player so I tend to want to do everything on my first game.

My haircut

No me había dado cuenta de que eres español, TurinTur. Bueno, presumo que lo eres.

[for the rest: telling him I didn’t realize he was Spanish (or I presume so)–though I should have picked up on it from his location. :-) ]

Actually, I should go ahead and download the Spanish language pack–already did so with the German.

umm call me dumb but where do you change the witchers’ hairstyle?

cough not that i care of course, for me an rpg is all about the sword swinging and ladyshaggin’, stuff like having the character look just so really doesn’t interest me in the slightest bit of course cough

:P

so ah… how? where?

You need to go to a barber. Oxenfurt and Novigrad both have one.

Btw, Oxenfurt has been a small disappointment. A good number of closed doors, just one usable merchant in the open market, the famous university area is closed off because of war and not even one brothel.

I really hope they release the patch tomorrow, ran into a bug that prevents me from continuing main quest. It doesn’t seem to affect everyone for whatever reason.

quest name

Pyres of Novigrad. Brick in the basement can’t be interacted with.

The exploration in this game has an interesting feel. It’s not like Skyrim with its handcrafted maps designed to make your eyes pop, or Dark Souls with its hidden treasures in intricate little secret areas. It’s a natural landscape so the excitement comes from realizing you’re in the middle of a big forest or discovering a wide river that actually poses an obstacle to progress. I enjoy riding and running around here soaking in the landscape, but it’s not because I come across some neat looking ancient ruins placed there by a game designer.

There’s also a guy you can save in the wilderness who then will give you free haircuts.

A question… Are places of power normally marked on the map? In white orchard they were, and there were a ton of them. But in valen i only found one, and i didn’t notice it on the map until i got there

Also, when using the alternate axii sign, by holding the spellcast button, is there any significance attributed to how long you hold it and charge it up?

Question: if I’m not locked on to an enemy, how do I aim Aard or Igni? During the quest involving a pan, I faced the obstacle head on but Geralt kept blasting the spell to his right.

There is also a drunk barber who will give you the wrong haircuts.

I believe you are always locked on to one enemy or another and will blast spells accordingly. The manual lock-on locks the camera, and stops the targets from automatically changing.

Thanks for the reply. So if you’re not in a fight of some kind, and you just want to knock something down, there’s no aiming it? Intuitively, you’d think it would be directed where Geralt is facing, but in the case I mentioned it kept being directed to the right. Of course it could be a bug.

Yeah if you are not in combat, it fires in the direction you are facing. Or it should! I’ve knocked down plenty of honeycomb with Igni that way.

Its really surprising there is no storage chest. I liked the innkeeper storage mechanic they had in the first game and eventually patched into the second one.

Yeah are there any barbers in Velen or do I have to go to Oxenfurt for that ?

I guess the temporary solution is saddlebags for Roach. It’s definitely a mod I’d love to see.

The monster contracts have all been really nice boss fights so far.

After checking a lot of marked locations today, they don’t seem like content that I absolutely have to do in order. I think I’m going to move on to the north side of the map.

Finally sunk about 4 hours into Velen and made it to level 5! Now all my quests are level 6 or higher!

Pretty much figured out combat at this point, and loving the heck out of it.

Met up with the cow healer, but now its time for bed… :p

Mosey down south from the Baron’s compound I believe.
