Yep, tried that. The horse race fixed the issue which is great because my last save with Roach working was a ways back.

That’s exactly what I did - kept the undiscovered locations off in WHite Orchard, turned them on when I felt like I covered about everything and finished them off. I turned them back off before heading to the next area. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I feel like I’ve explored enough. If I play again it is probably better to keep them off. If I don’t play again, then I don’t want to miss stuff, but then I’ll level too much. I’m also on the 2nd hardest difficulty.
I also wish the UI made it apparent what land you haven’t explored yet, but then again I’m not sure if it would be good just walking around like a witcher zamboni trying to systematically explore all areas.
I’m not sure why non of these games have really nailed how they dole out locations. I think I really wish most exploration was the result of hearing rumors, or quest givers giving directions. Maybe it would get frustrating, but I wish someone would attempt it. Dragon Age: I handled some locations in an interesting way with their treasure map approach.
If I had to wager, I’d guess they might have considered making the witcher gear hunt quests unmarked since you start them by finding or buying maps. The problem is the game is so damn huge that it might have ended up being a pain in the ass.
I would have been ok with it though.

I’m also nervous about heading into any real cities since that is what I usually like the least in RPGs. I like the small towns, talk with a couple inhabitants, then get back to adventuring. I’m afraid the game will keep me in cities for hours.
I know it’s a matter of taste, but I really like this one

Here’s a youtube video of it in action:
I can handle some glitches and the occasional crash. But getting into an unrecoverable state on the last round of great game of Gwent? That’s unforgiveable, CD Projekt.
I’ve had the game crash on me while playing Gwent, on the PS4.
What level should I be when I leave White Orchard? The quests are all lvl 6 and above in the new area, and I’m still lvl 4. One of the quests is lvl 33. Wtf?
Galaxy Client lets you ‘back up’ your installs, did you try doing that for the language packs? It shouldn’t re-download them then. Granted I haven’t tried but I’ve seen the options for backing up the installed data.
What quest is that? I don’t remember getting one of those in White Orchard.
You can leave whenever you’re ready.
There sure are a helluva lot of question marks on the Velen map, and each one seems to call to me. Got down on a peninsula toward the very SW corner and ran into a level 77 night hag and Geralt was 11 or 12. Game’s first one-shot kill on me.
And now level 77 monsters? You guys are just playing a joke on me!
Do I need to beat every Gwent opponent in the game to collect all the cards? Each one seems to give me a card, but not necessarily a unique one. At least I don’t think.
Heh, there’s a quest in Novigrad with a certain witcher that feels like it’s straight out of Bioware or any AAA open world game. A man ought for righteous revenge at the loss of his friend, unearned stakes and seriousness with no time to explain, you just have to do this for me bro. Doesn’t help that he has an American accent and the friend’s name was Aiden. :) Rare dissonance in an otherwise natural and believeable game.

Holy crap, is there a way to undo a purchase/sell in a store? Ughhhhhh…
They need to put in one more step. Like you add stuff to the cart, and then it should ask you if you really want to go through with the deal.
They should handle it as in a lot of RPGs (Mount and Blade for instance): you can always buy/sell something back at the same price during the same session–no sale is final until you exit the trading interface.

Its too early to say it but I think this is the best game ever for me. I am consumed by it.
The only rules/system criticism I have is the ability/equipped skill system. Its easy to have ability points sitting around doing nothing, early on because White Orchard is Place of Power dense compared to the rest of the world and (not there yet just doing the math) late in the game because of the pace the finite 12 skill slots unlock at. This sucks because it takes a lot of the joy out of leveling. Also, I think the T3/4 abilities in the Combat/Signs/Alchemy trees take too many points to unlock. It is hard to excel with a Hybrid build, especially early.
Geralt’s movement controls like shit too of course. This is easily adapted to except in those rare areas where you need a delicate touch navigating the environment. Then it fails miserably.
I love Gwent. I have a Northern Realms Siege Foltest deck that crushes face. I can even hang with the ridiculous OP Monster decks that have 3 different unit types with fucking Muster.
I dont get the Geralt VO hate. I think he is awesome. Baron has been the best. Low point, as has been mentioned, is no contest the fucking loading narration. That shit is terrible. Like they just grabbed a dude that worked at the recording studio and knocked them all out in an hour.
Controller tip I read about today, holding start goes directly to the map, as opposed to tapping it and bringing up the map/inventory/etc selection screen.
What did you see this with? The only one that seems weird to me is Moon Dust (and someone warned about thqt up thread). I got both recipes at the same time, from a vendor. I made the first one and was able to make the 2nd one. But on the Alchemy list Enhanced Moon Dust is gone from the list and it allows me to create Moon Dust again, which none of the others I have upgraded has done.

I haven’t gotten to Triss yet, but I think Geralt’s voice work is perfect for what Geralt is in my mind. The couple of times he needed a little bit of emotion he really nailed it - like in the beginning with little Ciri.
There’s a lot of subtlety this time around for Geralt. It’s just enough flavor for me to keep him from a monotone bore. Very in keeping with the character.
I think Geralt’s voice is a little too Christian bale batman, but not bad. When i first heard it, it basically made my throat hurt thinking of the poor voice actor. I remember him being kind of like that in the previous two games, but it seems much more so in this one.
I didn’t say he was bad, just one of the worst in this cast so far!
They’re really pulling out all the wisecracks now that Geralt is in the big city. Probably doesn’t want to joke around with the destitute peasants in Velen.
To answer my question about collecting all the Gwent cards: looks like you buy or quest for most of them, but some you need to win at random from merchants. If you play regularly you’ll probably most of the way there, and then you can look for the last few ones in a strategy guide. Not sure I’ll bother, but it’s a lot of fun now that I have some good cards.
