Half the quests I have now are way way higher level than me, as are half my recipes and some of the items I’ve looted. Ran into a level 14 mob yesterday, had to run away from it, into a level 18, which I rode away from until I got killed and had to reload a savegame, prompting me to run away from the level 14 mob in ANOTHER direction :)
I wonder if damage you inflict on high level mobs is reduced due to the level difference, or if it is solely based on your equipment.
I suspect it’s both of those things, plus a handful of other stuff (not to mention skill points).
Just curious, how did Skyrim do in Japan? Isn’t there a big Japanese modding community for Bethesda games?
I agree and the bold part succinctly sums up how I feel about it. CDPR is making Bioware irrelevant. The characters, plot, dialog, and story development are so much better in CDPR games. ME 1 and DA:O are the last great Bioware games IMO.
Bethesda, however, is a different matter. As long as they strive to make huge sandbox RPGs I’ll will always be eager to see what they’re doing next. I really hope they do better story telling in future games but it isn’t as essential as it is in a Bioware game.

I think it’s great we have CDPR and Bethesda all we need it Bioware to actually level up to these.
I have a spare GOG copy I got with GPU if anyone wants it cheaper than it is available normally.
Btw I got Elven head from a troll. What do I do with it ?
So far as I can tell, Skyrim did about the same there on release. It’s just that when Skyrim was released those were not-bad numbers, and now with the depressed console market there the same numbers take you to the top of the chart.
I’m not getting my hopes up (no matter what the lead designers say in the next marketing blitz). I don’t know if EA ruined them per se, but I doubt they will undergo any radical change underneath them. In some ways it’s that corporate AAA feel that bugs me more than the writing.
I also suspect their writing team either has a core group directing them toward the young adult style or they have a constant influx of writers who want to continue writing that way.
They are still the only game in town for AAA party-based combat. Messing that up will probably be the final straw. We’ll see when I play DAI.
Speaking of Bioware, Witcher 3 is doing the Bioware thing better than Bioware. I’m talking, of course, to romancing in game.
Keira quest was nicely done for being a one night thing, you don’t bed her and that’s it, but
Keira
there is a pair of quests related to it, there is a justification for it in the writing (she was tired of the shitty Velen and was a luxury dinner with good company for once), the dinner in the forest was really nice, as the scene with the two of them looking at the nightsky. And it all ties up with the end of the Tower of Mice’s quest.
Triss of course, even better.

There are several quests with her in Novigrad, even the new players can see how they have a past story together, with some nice touches here and there in their interaction. I suffered for a fictional character when I could hear her being tortured while I was playing smooth with the Witch hunter boss. The masked ball as I said before was magical, she being tipsy was funny, and the end of the Novigrad with her staying (and the lighthouse scene, the code! lol) was very good.
I can only imagine Yennefer will be as good. For now I can say her alternate costume is hawt. They sexy stocking when she is seated. :O
I suppose Bioware still wins in quantity and diversity of subjects to romance.
Oh wow. I’ll be interested in what you think since you will be experiencing the games in the reverse order of most people. TW3 is a tough act to follow.
One thing to add. It shows this is the last “Geralt game”, because they went their way to please the fans with and it’s full of references to the books and past characters! It isn’t only having Ciri and Yennefer, but lots of past events are referenced, and some book character appear for the first time.
So do we know yet whether the post-Geralt games will be some other character from the lore like Ciri … or will you create your own character?
(Or is this something that would be obvious if I had finished the game?)

One thing that is unclear to me (given I have not read the books) is what the state of other witcher schools are.
I guess the Cat school was kind of dispersed or something, based on some info you can piece together… But I don’t know what the state of the bear and griffin schools are. And are there others?
Cause I guess it’s possible you could just play some OTHER witcher.
I think the entire idea of Witcher schools is invented by the games.
I think there’s a sorting hat involved somewhere.
And it being The Witcher, the sorting hat is a twisted abomination with a horrifying backstory.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
IIRC cat school is infamous for having some witchers gone wrong, also in the books. Season of Storms touched on that.
