Yeah that really sucks. The quest level ratings need to be revisited. To me, lower level quest means do them first. If you do that, you will wrap up Triss before even considering going to Skellige and ahead of at least 2 side quests that you need Triss for!
I think the N on the mini map is harder to see than it should be. No 1.05 patch today sucks. No hotfix for the xp bug sucks even more. CDPR does not seem to think its a big deal, which blows my mind.
Hmm I have 81 hours and am level 19. I don’t even feel like I am half way, and that is just accounting for doing quests. If I actually worked to investigate every ? on the map I see this being a 200+ hour experience for me.
Well too late for that now!
I do feel like I should hop over to Skellige after the last main quest (or two or three) in Novigrad.
I’m bummed that they didn’t make good on the promised patch. Beggars can’t be choosers – still a great game and all – but I’m leaking XP like crazy and catching up again might be awkward.
Does anyone know if the “interact with candles near chests and other interactive elements” bug fix addresses other “hit box” issues beyond just the candle thing? I just encountered my second quest-breaking bug (From a Land Far, Far Away) where I can’t examine clues due to the same issue. This is one of two known quests that I can actually pursue at this point, outside of the main quests which I want to ignore for the time being.
I need to pay attention to my quest journal. At level 21, I unknowingly took on a level 30 quest and promptly found myself to be the unwelcome guest of level 29 golem, in a room with no exits. It took much dodging, Quen, elementa oil and emergency field repairs to my sword to put him down. :)
The payoff was totally worth the effort…
Gottfried’s Omni-opening Grimoire, with information on deactivating/bypassing a Defensive Regulatory Magicon.
I’d rather they took the time to get the patch right than push it out half-baked. If it was ready to go, I’m sure they would have released it.
Rico, after I posted the above I thought about it some more and realized the same thing. Glass half empty interpretation was that they had a too-casual attitude about the importance of the patch, and half full interpretation is that they delayed release because they wanted to get it exactly right.
I just discovered that boating through a cluster of Erynias* flying around is safer than I feared. Instead of diving into the water, tipping my boat and then ripping me to shreds as I’d feared, they actually just buzz the boat, perch on the edge one at a time, and let me to pick them off casually with the crossbow on my own schedule. I don’t even have to aim.
*You can do this with Erynias and Sirens up to at least two levels above you. IMO it’s very cheesy so not necessarily recommended.
After more than 30 hours I finally bit the bullet and went to Novigrad.
Man this game… I’m starting to think this will take all year to finish and I’m totally fine with that.
Being Geralt is the best thing ever.

You mean the two quests in Novigrad that require her help or are there two additional quests in Skellige that she’s needed for?
Man I have a hard time deciding whether to let Witch Hunters
spoiler of Reuven’s treasure quest
torture Triss, and see the whole dialogue (and let Triss kill Menge, which is satisfying), or simply say fuck it and kill them all out right (which is also appealing, and Triss is unscathed).
You can also
Menge
botch it and let Menge notice something it’s wrong, like I did. :P
Man, 24K gold already, and I bought 2 major runes one hour ago.
TurinTur, thats what happened to me also! :p
Whoreson Jr’s Casino SUPER RANT/SPOILERS
Some sick masochistic dude at CDPR must have taken extra glee in making this part of the mission, I get up to the 2nd floor without spilling the beans as to why I am there. Then proceed to lose at Gwent for probably 6 games in a row with the first guy, I finally win once and save. Then try to beat another guy over by the stairs going up and get him on the first attempt. These players had some seriously OP cards!
So I get the invite upstairs and it was all for nothing… I wonder if they purposefully made the upstairs interrogation room as small as possible for the fight with the 3 guys, I probably died 4 times before I just focused on blocking as much as possible and getting in a few swings when I could. At one point the horrible indoors camera stuck to I guess what was a wooden beam / support, and I couldn’t see shit. That happened a few times. Also there was stuff in the room so that rolling was a total pain in the ass. I finally decided after getting one guy down to half health and the other 2 to about 80% health to cheese it, and spam bombs. 3 upgraded grapeshot grenades later and 1 guy remained. And was dealt with. It probably didn’t help that I was using a level 10 sword on level 12 guys, and I was level 14.
Love how the tortured dwarf knew almost nothing. Made it out eventually, but that 1 building probably took me 90 minutes from start to finish. I wonder if it would have been easier to just tell the barkeep I was looking for Whoreson Jr, and dealt with the goons as I headed upstairs?
Also did anyone try casting Aard while in a boat , to make it go faster?

I don’t think you can cast signs while piloting a boat, but I will try!
The game in the late stages is unbalanced, as previous Witcher games. I just did two contract, where I’ve beaten a Royal Wyvern level 23 and a Archgriffon level 24 while I was level 24 (so I wasn’t outleveling them heavily) and even in Death March it wasn’t a challenge, they didn’t feel like boss fights. Once you have good oils and good skill sets, the fights against tough enemies in 1vs1 are pretty easy. The only that that is still dangerous are the mobs of monsters, just because if one stun you others can attack you more times, if there are several some can attack you from behind (extra damage), etc.
Low-level mobs are way more dangerous than any one-on-one fight.
I’m a big fan of interesting loot and I think it has problems in that area. A major one is the witcher outfits being better than basically everything else and you get to upgrade them to keep them relevant. I am constantly finding armor that’s just slightly worse than my witcher outfit and now I’m nearing the level where I can upgrade the set. (using feline set)
This leaves me with the two weapon slots and every upgrade there is so incremental that I usually don’t even bother upgrading except every 5th level or so.
(The only exception being an axe I found that has 200 armor penetration, I’m still not sure if that item is bugged or not or if armor penetration is working as intended.)
Also, I’m running around with almost 20000 crowns now with nothing to spend it on, there’s no wonder armor I’m saving up to buy, I already got the best for my level with little effort and very cheap.
On top of all this you have the pretty insignificant attack glyphs with X percent chance to do something fairly useless. :/
Overall, I’m not feeling it when it comes to loot diversity in this game.
Personally I wish they had done away with the loot system and left the gear hunt quests, but that’s just me.
I’ve had the same gear for a long time and I’m fine with that. It only needs to look good.
Yeah, I don’t really think of this as a loot-based game. The meat of it is the story and the quests.

Heh, I’ve decided that I hate the witch hunters to the extent that I started just murdering them when I saw them in town.
What’s funny, is that I actually slaughtered a group of them that were standing around a pyre, and afterwards it started some little conversation with some guy who was apparently being burnt at the stake or something? But he wasn’t actually there prior to the fight. I actually reloaded to make sure.
So, something happened, I guess… but I think it may have been something of a bug.
I don’t think it’s loot based at all but you are constantly wading through loot though; weapons, armor, herbs and monster ingredients, runes, junk items, food and recipes. Loot is definitely in there in a big way so it should probably be more interesting.

my sword as like 15% chance to stun, and 5% chance to set on fire, and 5% chance to stagger… Which is most definitely not useless. It means I’m constantly causing bad stuff to happen to whatever I hit.
In terms of interesting loot, I find the decoctions to be the coolest thing most of the time… some of the ones I have made now do awesome stuff, like increase your health after every kill, permanently, until you meditate or fast travel.
